Dixeyroyal Not sure what all the fuss is about to be honest.....

Positives
1. He has scored goals for us so far this season (what about the other 2 when he was shite)

Negatives
1. He has 6 months to run on his contract
2. He plays for himself and not the team
3. He sulks like a child when he isn't "the main man"
4. He upsets other players with his attitude (confirmed by other players) and tendency to "shoot at every opportunity"
5. We would see the best of Vydra without him

For all of the reasons above..... SELL SELL SELL

You were probably one of the people who said we should sell Antonio as he's crap ...

Blackman off to Shefield Wednesday

by Chelsea/Royal » 05 Jan 2016 10:54

Reading have accepted a bid from Wednesday for Nick Blackman.

Not sure how much.

Bet he scores against us in a couple of weeks.

The only concrete evidence I've seen of him having an attitude is that he doesn't leap around like an over excited puppy when he scores.

Other than that he works pretty hard. Sometimes he's bit selfish. That's how he scores goals.

And yes, I'd love to know which players have spoken about having and where.

Still our top scorer in those games.

In the last 14 games, he's scored 3.

1 ahead of Williams, Vydra & Piazon.

Clearly we've really sucked in these last 14 games, but he was our top scorer when we were playing well, and he's our top scorer now we are shite, so selling him for anything other than a contact/money situation, doesn't make sense.

Yeah sorry, 3. Still not good though.

Who's to say taking him out of the team when he hit that bad patch meant other players started scoring because we weren't accommodating Blackman?

Is he the top scorer because of the way he plays?

Would others have scored more if he wasn't in the side and not really creating for anyone else but him?

I tend to agree with the comment someone said earlier in that Sa would've made better use of the chances McLeary was making once he'd come on.

Agreed, and that would be a great thing, but it's all ifs and buts.

The only thing that isn't an if or a but is that he's remained our top scorer throughout, which makes it a total gamble to take him out of the side (or sell him), in the hope that everyone else will start scoring freely.

Oh by the way, in case you didn't hear, I think Blackman might be off to Sheff Wed.

Think I might start a new thread about it, but I'm not sure what to call it. For some reason, there is loads of Blackman and Sheff Wed threads on here.

Blackman's goalscoring record:

2006–2009 Macclesfield Town 12 (1)
2009–2012 Blackburn Rovers 1 (0)
2009 → Blackpool (loan) 5 (1)
2009–2010 → Oldham Athletic (loan) 12 (1)
2010–2011 → Motherwell (loan) 18 (10)
2011 → Aberdeen (loan) 15 (2)
2012–2013 Sheffield United 28 (11)
2013– Reading 103 (18)

18 goals in 103 games.

I tend to leave that down to the judgement of the manager. Brian has said he wants a squad with identity and strong team ethic, I don't see that coming from Blackman.

As a team we've struggled to score goals with him in the side and chopping and changing a lot of things around him.

As some point, especially after his hot streak ended, it should be his turn to sit on the sidelines to see if it makes for a more effective team (IMO, obviously).
