On Nigel Pearson

‘It is the best story about Nigel Pearson, perhaps the best story about any Premier League manager, and it concerns the man still in charge of Leicester City and a pack of wild dogs that he encountered while hiking alone in the Carpathian mountains.

‘Pearson’s most detailed account of the incident came in a documentary Sky Sports made about the newly promoted Leicester last summer. “There was five of them,” he recalled, “and what they do is that one goes for you and the others [circle] around until one of them can bring you down – what they essentially do is rip the throat out.”

‘He said he had escaped them first time by throwing himself into a “patch of brambles and nettles” where he knew the dogs would not follow. When they attacked a second time he had only his walking poles to defend himself. “I backed myself against a tree,” Pearson said. “I thought ‘I don’t want to get attacked from behind’. I was absolutely goosed by this point.” He did not go into details about how he survived, saying only that he “managed to get rid of them”.’

Winston Smith Ronny Deila leaving Celtic

Weird one that. Kinda.
He won the league every season, won as many cups as Lennon, got to the CL group stage or further as many times as Lennon (2) and had a similar win rate (67% compared to 69%). But the fans never warmed to him.

stealthpapes Plus they've recently changed the board or at least rearranged the behind the scenes stuff.

Little and Bernstein in. Once that happened, Garde had no future.

Absolute shambles of a club.

Martinez surely on the brink. Don't think he'll go before an FA cup semi though.

Liverpool had 41 shots on their goal last night  Should've been more than 4-0.

Everton are one of the few clubs who seem to give managers time and Moyes didn't tend to put 2 decent seasons together. I'd be surprised if Martinez's job was seriously under threat.

Big downward trend there though. He took over a flu that finished 6th. Took them to 9th first year, 11th last year and likely lower this. When at Wigan, took over a club that finished 11th finished lower each year there until they got relegated.

Fair enough if Martinez haha track record of steady decline.

I know a few Evertonians and they're pretty level headed. They know the club can't compete financially with the top 6 and they have pretty realistic expectations. I suppose it comes from spending over 50 years as the underdog in your own city. They don't strike me as the sort of fans to call for the manager's head for finishing mid table and neither do the owners.

Didn't they get new owners recently? The FA Cup win at Wigan certainly puts a nice gloss on his Wigan career which the league results doesn't necessarily warrant.

Kenwright owns 15% now but is the second largest shareholder and still chairman. The largest shareholder has less than 50%.

paultheroyal You have to wonder what goes on in the minds of club chairman and their boards.

What are Peterborough thinking appointing Graham Westley. A shocking appointment.

Decent on the non league circuit mainly because he wanted to own any club he managed this bloke from personal experience is...

A) nasty piece of work
B) tactically inept
C) thick
D) not very good

Feel for the fans. Surely better was out there?

8)

And he's gone! Deserved.

Could this manager go next?

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/ne ... -wife.html

His team's performances could have been below par due to his mind being elsewhere...
