I genuinely wonder if a fan could do as good a job as a pro these days, assuming there is a full complement of technical staff in place to run coaching, do transfer deals etc? On a serious point a fan could make good start by playing players in their positions and using a known / proven formation. At least then the players would have a fighting chance of knowing what to do on the pitch.

Formations don't win matches. Performances do. Brian said as much prior to the Blackburn game and said that was a difficult summer ahead to achieve consistency. A month has now passed and the problems still exist. Half a dozen pre-season friendlies to find a blend. Long season ahead I would say.
