Cant get away from the fact thats a poor tackle and probably should be a red.

Potential leg-breaker.

I said I thought it was a yellow. The still makes it look worse than it was.

Keep up m9. Stop flailing those arms around for a second.

I agree Hendo. But Sanguine says otherwise.

I am just going to put a * here and say that I didn't actually see the incident live. The still makes the tackle look poor, I can't imagine it looked much better live but, sometimes it might do, depending on where the ball is/how late it actually was etc.

Costa did lunge in but that was because Adrian was faffing about and he had the chance to get a block in and get a goal. I think in any other circumstance he would have got a 2nd yellow.

Although tbf - the ref was inconsistent giving Costa his first yellow, but then failing to give Carroll one for a similar incident. Likewise, Kante got a yellow card for a slightly mistime challenge in the first couple of minutes. The ref failed to give James Collins one for exactly the same thing just before.

I've just checked the FA rule on faffing and you are right, you can steam in with a leg breaker and get away with it. Who knew ?!?

Looking at footage of the incident, Costa's leg is still on the backswing to make the challenge when Adrian released the ball.

I'll let the footage speak for itself

Watched Saturday's MOTD this morning - Diego Costa has escaped one of the most blatant red cards of the season at Watford. Weak reffing for me, Jeff

And Watford escaped one of the most blatant handballs ever. Clear pen for Chelsea. Swings and roundabouts eh.

Gomes would have saved it

He's got to be disappointed with the 2nd for me.
