EverHopeful think he can but only if Villa cancel his contract - sure they would have to pay him off which will be a few quid but if they do, he is a free agent and can sign for any club he wants

They wouldn't have to pay him. They could agree to cancel it with nothing paid. Or he could sit on his arse and ruin his career.
Even if the.y did cancel I would be less than keen on taking him.

Agbonlahor is a good player and if he put his mind to it would no doubt tear up the Championship but players like him rarely improve their attitude that has plagued their career, think of him as a lower profile Drenthe.

I'm calling bullshit. He'd need to have been released before the end of the transfer window otherwise there would be no reason for a window at all. Team A could pay team B to agree to a mutual contract termination on the sly and then sign the player up. He's stuck festering in their reserves or retiring.

Yep. Now they've got rid of the loan window there's gonna be a load of players like our Gabby just sitting on their arses until January.

just looked through FIFAs rules and it seems clear that a player can only be registered outside a window if his contract had expired within the window.
So it is not possible to terminate a contract now and a new club register the player straight away. Obviously another club could sign such a player any time they want, but until the player is registered they cannot play. And they cannot now register until January.
So,lucky escape regarding Agnonlahor then......

Apparently we tried to sign one permanent and one loan.

The loan was confirmed to be Washington, Villa confirmed they were trying to get Agbonlahor out on loan, so which was it - as it presumably wasn't both.

I'm disappointed if we were seriously looking at either of them right now, I'd have thought better of Stam.

Have seen nothing, beyond Xia saying he's disappointed that Agbonlahor didn't take a loan, to say that was us after him. Either way lf these were our options, I'm happy to persevere with Kermorgant, Mendes and Samuel, hopefully Kermorgant hits form after that goal, Samuel decides to get his legs reinforced and Mendes can step up as he acclimatises. Usually someone tends to step up at times like these.

We still have free agent options too, shame Sunderland took Anichebe.

That's my thinking and basically what the club told Watts. Although Xia hardly disputed it - suggested that he was meant to go out on loan to someone. Wonder who that someone was.

Definitely. I've been quite critical of Kermorgant but he knows the league, took his goal well the other day and puts himself about a bit. Maybe he can do enough. I don't think Washington would have been the answer.

How much would Jay Rodriguez cost?

At this rate I think I'm worth at least £3m, and I play 5-a-side

I'm recovering from fracturing my wrist playing 5 a side, am in my mid-30s and I reckon I'd be signed for more than we sold Andy Hughes based on current crazy prices.

I've just turned down an offer from a Chinese club which would have earned me well into 6 figures per week.
I'm 57, smoke 30 a day, have no ability and am a woman.
They said they'd try Hal Robson-Kanu when I turned them down....
