Axel Witsel reportedly on his way to China to earn £300,000 a week for the next 4 years. Another very decent player in his prime opting for China over a European move. Will be interesting to see if he is picked for Belgium again soon.

I am finding it all quite interesting tbh. If they keep up the signings then in a few years time they could have most of the worlds best players and we may all be waking up early to watch a Chinese league matches while kids stroll around town centres wearing the latest Chinese club shirts. Which could be quite an exciting change tbf

I'd rather they keep their money over there and attract players to the Chinese League as opposed to coming over here and buying up our clubs.

At the same time, I think it's a real shame that players of Oscars caliber are going to a relative backwater at a relative early stage of their career. They may justify it by claiming to be trailblazers but they should really be looking to play at the best and most competitive standard they can, IMO, and for the glory and for the sport of it, not the extra millions they can make.

Oh yeah, that's what I meant really (buying players not clubs)

Sorry, that was just me getting on my soapbox about some of this foreign ownership which I don't see as being good for the long term health of the game.

I am not so sure it is that bad a thing tbh. If the Chinese league ends up being of a high quality then it gives us another part of the world to watch football in. People aren't going to stop going to football in England just because the worlds top players are elsewhere, so our stadiums will stay full, people will still enjoy the game here but we have an added league to keep an eye on. We (along with europe's other top leagues) have essentially thrown money to players from elsewhere to take them away from their homeland and come here, not sure this is all that different.

My fear isn't about another major league developing, it's about the foreign ownership of English clubs undermining our club football.

I'm not fussed about watching another major league on TV either to be honest. I don't watch Italian, German or Spanish football (bar the odd highlights or perhaps a half an hour of Spanish game on a Sunday night) so it would make very little difference to me but I can see how the TV fan would find it appealing.

I'd rather fans went to live games and understood a bit more about what football is really about as well.

Hendo
Winston Smith Colin Kazim-Richards to Corinthians for 6 million Brazilian Real (£1.5M)

apparently he was at a relegation struggler in Brazil last year and had a great season.

Was he the player that was 'awarded' to a team when the Coca-Cola Championship first started?

correct. he was referred to as 'the coca-cola kid' for a while I believe.

In regard to China - until a big name player who is starting regularly for a top team leaves for China then it can't be considered a major force.

You look at the players over there on big money - Pelle, Oscar, Tevez, Paulinho, Hulk and now Mikel hardly any of them were starting for a major top 4 club and have only gone for the money

Here you go -

Former Blackburn Rovers striker Nikola Kalinic is close to joining Chinese club Tianjin Quanjian from Fiorentina for £38.5m.

Wasn't surprised by Witsel. He has previous after following the money to Zenit, when some top teams were interested.

I was listening to Talksport this morning and they had Plymouth manager Derek Adams on. He said they'd just signed a player for a few quid, can't remember how much, and he said it was the first time he'd paid a transfer fee for a player in his 9 years of management.

That's quite a stark contrast to so many other clubs and managers.

Add Hulk into that catagory too. Actual lol though that their league is seeming to be made up of premier league rejects.
