Oh you meant Sheffield fc not Sheffield united or Wednesday. I don't think they count because they aren't in the top 5 divisions and never have been a proper football club, so to me the oldest proper football club is notts county.

FIFA officially recognise them as being the oldest club in the world and awarded them the Order of Merit as a result but I guess you know better than the world governing body.

FIFA arent exactly the standard bearer in setting a good example lately. However if they have officially given the title of the oldest team in the world to them, I suppose they can have this one.

I owe them seeing as I ripped them a new one and embarrassed some of them during my VAR presentation when they weren't listening.

Bolton still not out of bother. Football Ventures all but agreed to buy them out of admin but they want the Hotel as well, as it is profitable.

Everyone's favourite* "businessman" Laurence Bassini reportedly has put in a large bid in for the hotel as Ventures will only complete on the club if they get the hotel too. Plan seeming to be that if FV fall away, it opens the door again for Bassini to get the club too.

In the meantime, the administrators have said they have referred Bassini to the police for threatening behaviour.

Season starts in 19 days. They ha e only 7 senior players, the players do not have insurance, no season tickets on sale, stadium doesn't have a safety certificate, no kit for upcoming season, cannot access the changing room areas at the training ground.

No sympathy for them, unfortunately. They played gravytrain roulette for years in the Premiership under Allardyce. It's taken 10 years but it was always going to catch up with them with catastrophic consequences.

Who was the last league club to fully go bust? Rushden and diamonds?

I think about 10ish years ago Luton and Bournemouth started a season on -19 and im sure one was on -30 and if they didnt get penalised would have gone up.

Their survival is totally dependent on a new owner isn't it. And only the vultures are circling.

It really is the consequence of that continued and ludicrous overspending in the PL. It's deserved, but it's been too long to really be properly linked to that in the minds of many.

It seems their demise is inevitable. Good luck to them is starting a Phoenix club and getting back into the League. Local competition likely to make that hard though.
