Worst Xi

Virginia

Khumalo

Piazon
Drenthe
John

This is quite hard because I just don't remember many shit players. Certainly not enough for a full XI and many it's harsh to pick anyone. Couldn't think of a single actively poor RB.

URZZZZ S Kelly worse than Marcus Williams :o

Told you I couldn't remember many shit players.

Kelly was terrible at LB (not RB) but William's will bounce straight in. Really struggled at RB too.

Curious to know why you selected Mariappa in there?

Plus, Pog wasn't that bad, if you judge him on performances only and don't consider the stupid wages we paid him.

Carricco looked absolutely class in the 80 odd minutes he spent on the pitch as well. We picked up 7 points in the 3 games he played in.

And he's a CB.

IIRC Harding signed only for the 2008/09 season (or at the end of) so he shouldn’t be in there technically. No idea what HRK is doing in there either, he was overrated but certainly not the worst. Could apply to Church too and I agree with Pog

I thought Mariappa was a class above while he was here

Also, also, Morrison has been here for 4 months, how can he be in team of the decade? :|

linkenholtroyal - you have questions to answer.

Forgot about him, if it is Sean, the question then has to be asked, how did he get into TOTD and Mariappa got into WTOTD?

Moore or Pearce certainly get in ahead of Sean Morrison.

I'm surprised Danny Guthrie isn't in the conversation about worst XI.

Players like Akpan were just out of their depth, not their fault.

Guthrie just couldn't be arsed.

Guthrie did quite well didn't he in the 13/14 season? Wasn't as good as I'd hoped but I wouldn't say he was that bad

Yeah, he had a spell of about a month at the start of the season, countered by shit like refusing to play.

Yeah, he was fine. Bit of a twat, not what we needed, expected or hoped for but fine.

Lol at excusing players from the worst team because it not their fault they were shit.

I'd rather have a player who was shit and at least tried than a player who is good but can't be arsed.

Well, to be honest I'd rather have neither but would show more appreciation for the former. But it's a question of expectation. You cant buy an average League 2 player and expect them to perform in the Premiership or Championship. You can expect a player who's spent his whole career in the top 2 flights and is still in his mid 20's to be a bit more than a "bit of a twat, not what we needed, expected or hoped for".

To be fair though, the question wasn't "Worst Reading FC team of the decade relative to experience/money". We're not taking into account where they came from, how much we spent etc, it's just generally the worst players you've seen. Akpan was worse than Guthrie, albeit with a better attitude but that's irrelevant in this example

Yeah, I don't see anyone arguing with Khumalo, Travner or Virginia's inclusion because they were shit but tried

Blackman has to be in contention, outside that run of 10 games where he was unplayable he was utter utter pony. And he cost us £1.5m when that still meant something.
