-got down to this – pleasant enough ground in a nice sculptured grassy hollow at the back of a retail park directly N off the A27
- decent food van – bar a bit small but sold badges
–plenty of seats in the stand along the clubhouse side but the elderly locals got a bit jumpy about social distancing
- very entertaining Sussex v Kent tussle.
- STEP05 Canterbury deservedly raced into a two goal lead by HT
- Team talk had effect on the home side – scored immediately after the break – there followed a long delay whilst a visiting CB was treated in the goal mouth – he was injured (knee) when the goal was scored. Not sure if an Ambulance did arrive to take him.
- the young STEP06 hosts then piled on the set-piece deliveries opening a flaw in City’s defence without one of their larger stoppers back there. Turned the game around to lead 3-2 – then conceded a leveller very late on – awarded by the Asst Ref who judged the ball to have crossed the line in a close in scramble.
- around what must have been the 100’ mark – it had been a long delay – there was an almighty tangle at another United Corner – forward left laying prone in the area - Ref awards pen and dismisses visiting player. Penalty converted - mayhem – final whistle not long after but City still had 2 clear close-range chances to pull level again.
- roads nice and clear; back indoors not long after 19:00117 Steyning Town 3-1 Lingfield
