Another game away from home in midweek and further chance to better the 4 wins from 41 away midweek league games since April 2014. To do that though Reading will have to win their second away midweek league of the season, which they haven’t managed since season 2012/13, and also win at a team not beginning with “B” for the first time since April 2014.
But it’s bottom of the table Wycombe I hear you say. Well we all know that that does not mean one thing in this league and many times Reading have come a cropper away at teams in the relegation mire. However Reading’s current totally unimpressive form is actually possibly a good thing as there should be no chance of complacency...
Wycombe’s current league form since the turn of the year (8 games) is 1 away win at Huddersfield, a home draw with Birmingham (something Reading haven’t managed for years) and a draw at Millwall so they’re still looking for the first home league win of 2021.
Striker Scott Kashket is the leading scorer so far for the Chairboys with 4 goals, Daryl Horgan is a fairly useful winger who reportedly once attracted interest from Reading and, of course, Wycombe have both Garath McCleary and Jordan Obita in their midst so both of those players will be eager to get one over their previous employer.
Wycombe have doubts over Joe Jacobson and Adebayo Akinfenwa while Reading will be missing Araruna, Meite and Swift.
