Messi apparently 'shocked and surprised' to be leaving Barca. And I'm sure leaving his boyhood club will be hard, up until he signs his PSG contract.

I'm reading that to allow Barca to re-sign Messi, La Liga wanted 10% of Barca's TV rights for the next 50 years, which is something like €800m

Hat-trick for Haaland in the German Cup yesterday meaning he has scored 89 goals in his last 87 games since leaving Molde

He didn't look that upset this time last year when he was trying to leave.

I find myself veering very much towards the 'not sympathetic' end of the spectrum when it comes to him leaving

I don't generally subscribe to the 'more money than they ever need' view - but Messi is one of the richest sports stars on the planet. If leaving Barca were causing him that much of a pickle, at a time when the club is struggling financially, he might have demanded less than £30m a year to play for them.

French league started at the weekend. PSG get a win. Lille come back from 3-1 down to draw with a goal in the 97th minute

Crazy that he has only just turned 21.

That PSG team is ridiculous. Doesn't include Wijnaldum either.

That being said, City are at the point where their second XI could probably win the PL.

See my post in the other thread:

genome Read that Barcelona need to get their wages to turnover ratio down to 70% as per the league rules, before they can register any player. It's currently at 95%, even with Messi leaving. So Messi wouldn't even be able to play for them for free

There are apparently also La Liga rules that state any new contract at a club can't be less than 50% of the previous contract's wages. Though I'm not sure if that applies to Messi as he technically left Barcelona.

Aguero now apparently trying to find his way out of the club he joined specifically to play with Messi.

Saw a journalist say today that PSG are "unconcerned" by any sanctions UEFA may impose on them because it's another three years before they're FFP is up for review by UEFA. By which time they think they'll have won the CL so any sanctions won't matter to them.

The Board of Directors of Real Madrid have unanimously agreed to execute both civil and criminal legal actions against the president of LaLiga, Mr. Javier Tebas, against Mr. Javier de Jaime Guijarro, responsible for the CVC Fund and against the CVC Capital Partners.

In other words, they are terrified that this extra money may even up the league a bit and put a guarantee of CL football in a little jeopardy.

Was listening to French pundit yesterday who said the PSG team last season were heavily criticised for the front 2 doing no chasing back at all and that was seen as one of the big reasons why they failed to win the league.

He said they now have a front 3 that will do no chasing back and tacticaly they really need to be quite clever about how they manage that as it could go badly wrong for them.

I am going to LOL if they don't win the league & CL

Finished 1-1. Being said Bayern were awful and lucky to get away with a draw. Lovely stuff.
