Stranded Have we not learnt from previous windows that until it is over it isn't worth getting frustrated about. In summer 2019, there was a lot of bed wetting as not much had happened come start of the season then Joao, Puscas, Rafael and Pele arrived pretty swiftly.
If come the end of the window, we've lost another player or two and not brought anybody in, have a good whinge but let's leave it a while yeah.

We are not going to be spending millions in this window like we did in 2019 and nor should we do so. However we really do need to ensure existing players are signed up longer term so that if they do leave we get decent money for them.
Nothing to do with bed wetting.

Not saying we will or we should - just that it's a fairly pointless exercise complaining about a window until it is over as the squad may look very different on 1st September. If it is as shallow (or worse) than it is now then absolutely but the club are working hard apparently to lift the embargo, and players may even arrive by the weekend (though doubt it). We have enough quality to get through the opening games but need that depth by the end of the window - if it doesn't happen, I will be amongst those saying we've had a bad window but just don't see the point in getting down about it now.

NathStPaul You'd hope so but it is a short career as a footballer. If you get offered a 3 year deal at Forest on double money you're going to have to at least think about it.
Forest are fcuking vultures BTW. Throwing their weight around like they are still a big club. Cannot stand them.

Amen. I've despised them ever since they sent us down in 98.
If they offer us enough money then let him go and join Carl Jenks and Tyler Blackett: rock solid!

NathStPaul They wouldn't even have the decency to offer the imperious Harry Arter as part of the deal. Scum club.

I would be appalled if true. EDIT. This is a pile of shit. The “source” is our very own John Smith. Alan Nixon has made clear it’s untrue. JS is making this up.

andrew1957 Just cannot see us selling any of the current squad apart from McNulty (as we don't seem to think he is any good) and possibly Puscas (as he does not fit our way of playing) provided they leave of permanent deals as we would not be able to replace them as we already have a squad of 24 players of a professional standing. So even if we sold two of our established players, we will only be able to bring one in as things stand. Selling Holmes would mean to me that the owners had already thrown the towel in and accepted relegation is a certainty.

Not certain we have any choice in that. We'd be loony not to take money for any of our players who are out of contract next year - if there is no movement from the EFL. We are getting exactly what we deserve, albeit under the rotten rules that are there.

Surely better to lose those players for nothing at the end of the season than be relegated. Relegation is likely to cost the club much more money in the longer term than losing some players (most of whom we did not pay a fee for) for nothing.

What if not selling those players brings us a points deduction...

What if we sell the player but still get a points deduction? Selling Holmes wont solve our financial crisis and weakens our thread bare squad.
The only way it could help is if we were allowed to reinvest the money elsewhere in the squad.

I'd agree that Holmes isn't the issue, certainly if it looks like we're due a deduction we should keep our squad together. However were someone to bid for any of Moore, Swift, Rhino, Laurent, Joao or Ejaria we'd be sensible to cash in (the latter two would clearly demand a decent fee given their contracts run longer.

Moore is the only one that is a no brainer because of his wage, Comparative ability to it and the fact we have equally as capable ready made replacements on far less.
The others we have less cover, so would be dependent on being able to replace. Whereas Moore could go 100% towards positions we already need to strengthen.

Not certain that any money coming in will go towards new signings, rather paying off our considerable debt.
