It's not that they didn't try but as we were tied to loans or free transfers on relatively small wages the pool was small. We were either reliant on a Prem club sending us a young striker and paying his wages for us or a free transfer willing to sign for a year. Looks like we tried for Carroll but didn't happen.

Not saying we didn’t need one but really struggling to see who we could realistically have got.
