It seems to me they will abandon the appeal if they can negotiate a small FFP points deduction.Stranded wrote:Derby's appeal against the 12 points has been delayed - it may even be abandoned entirely. Suggests that they either have a deal with the EFL over points or new owners have decided to just get the slate clean and start fresh in L1.
For FFP purposes, we just don't know at the moment - we have lost 93m over the past 3 years. Now some of that will be written off under the Covid exemptions and there will be other deductions but we are likely to have breached by 40m or so.Zip wrote:It seems to me they will abandon the appeal if they can negotiate a small FFP points deduction.Stranded wrote:Derby's appeal against the 12 points has been delayed - it may even be abandoned entirely. I was looking at Sheff Weds losses leading to their FFP penalty. They lost about £77 million over a three year period. How much did we lose?
Not considering exemptions, about £100m+Zip wrote:It seems to me they will abandon the appeal if they can negotiate a small FFP points deduction.Stranded wrote:Derby's appeal against the 12 points has been delayed - it may even be abandoned entirely. Mr Angry wrote:There are 2 elements to the FFP penalties; the first is to punish a club that over spends well above its means to achieve success - in effect, to punish financial doping.
The second is as a deterent for other clubs to try to do the same.
If Derby only get a 3 point deduction for their breaking of the FFP rules, then a number of clubs will think the risk of over spending to achieve promotion to the wealth of the Premier League is a risk worth taking if the punishment is "only" 3 points.
Frankly, the current system is a total mess; it sets a punishment of 9 points for breaking the rules, but then allows for all sorts of mitigation for clubs to try to avoid getting hit with the penalties.
Here is an idea; make the punishment a MINIMUM 9 points, with additional points deducted for levels of overspending, trying to hide funds, not co-operating etc etc. If the club found guilty has a mitigating reason, then fine - they only get hit with the 9 points.
Yep agreed.Stranded wrote:John Percey now reporting that Derby have "reluctantly accepted" a 9 plus 3 penalty, to be announced shortly.
Imagine we will get the same.

JLow saying 9 points + 3 suspended while Reading is still unconfirmed, could be the same or 6 points with 3 suspended.Zip wrote:Yep agreed.Stranded wrote:John Percey now reporting that Derby have "reluctantly accepted" a 9 plus 3 penalty, to be announced shortly.

Wasn't that the attitude when they first dropped into the Championship? Anyone for a rendition of "you're only here for the champions?"paultheroyal wrote:Looking at their forum they have now pretty much accepted their fate. Exactly. Look at the state of your Ipswichs, your Sunderlands, and to a degree, your Portsmouthstidus_mi2 wrote: They are in for a shock.
The bigger more established teams always seem to struggle to get out of League One, they usually do but I don't feel many do it at the first time of asking.
The teams that always seem to bounce back from League One quite quickly are your Peterboroughs, Barnsleys and Rotherhams.
Seriously? Most fans have a long list of clubs the absolutely despise, but for you it's only Derby? What about Leeds? Swindon? Fulham? West Ham? QPR? Portsmouth?paultheroyal wrote:Brum Royal wrote:Wasn't that the attitude when they first dropped into the Championship?
