Sanguine Is Eddie Howe going to last the season? Or even, to the end of the January transfer window?

I've always quite liked Newcastle, brilliant atmosphere at St. James Park, Alan Shearer, Gazza, Keegan etc, but there would be something particularly hilarious about our latest super-club starting their first full season in the Championship.

We were chatting about this yesterday.
Howe seems a little ‘rabbit in the headlights’ at thermometer, and probably through no fault of his own.
There’s a real chance they’ll be as good as down by the time they can get any players in, or at least need european qualification form to survive

How many hundreds of millions do you think they exceed FFP by next season if they do go down?

Not applicable if they go back up, obviously

I read somewhere that they are millions in hand re_FFP because of their lack of spending in recent years so they probably can and will splash out in January-what quality they will get for a relegation fight is another matter..

Like sanguine, and I guess many others, I would love to see Newcastle relegated for so many reasons.
As for Eddie Howe he was swearing away yesterday, something that he didn't do in the Bournemouth days, and I suspect the pressure and expectation levels at a big club are already getting to him.

With games coming up v Liverpool and City I reckon they might get a draw against one of them because of lethargy on the top clubs' part but that will get the Geordies all excited again, as it did after their first win (1-0) the other day until they are thrashed again by a Palace or a Southampton.

I like Geordies in the main but have come to dislike their football club.

I want them to go down because it would be funny

I also find Eddie Howe quite dislikable so to have it on his CV that he relegated the richest club in the world would be lolzy

Has always seemed a thoroughly decent chap to me. Disliking him is like hating Matthew Corbett, or Terry Wogan.

I guess its more the 'so good he is the next England manager' aura that was built up by the media around him, which I found quite mental (had that debate with someone on here just recently though)

Although funny to see Newcastle get relegated, be disastrous for the Championship and our 106 record. They would cream up the best talent in the league and no one should come close to them on the pitch. Let them survive.

I know it was Citeh, but... are Leeds in trouble? And how long till they turn on Bielsa?

They remind me a bit of Reading in our second Premier League season. They had a decent first season and then trusted their players to do the same the next season, they are paying the price for not improving their squad significantly.

Yeh, and I guess given Bielsa's reputation of running players into the ground, they could be in for an even tougher second half of the season. Didn't see the Chelsea game but they obviously put up a good fight, then paid the price the last night.

They've had a load of injuries to key players and a thin squad to start with. Kalvin Phillips being out for at least a couple of months now isn't going to do them any favours. A few supporters are starting to question whether Bielsa is the greatest coach of all time after all.

And City were exceptional. That’s about as well as I’ve seen them play. They normally keep the ball for fun, sometimes at the expense of creating chances, but last night they very much did both. it sure there were many teams that could have coped with it, let alone a severely depleted, ‘ordinary’ side.

Man Utd v Brighton next to go as Utd only have 7 players who could actually play at the weekend.

Apparently there is likely to be a PL meeting soon around suspending the league for 2 to 4 weeks, to try and let the surge pass before trying to restart and/or restricting fan numbers in stadiums again - the latter has been done across Europe to varying degrees. As it stands, you are only going to see more infections amongst players over the coming weeks.

With the EFL confirming today that 25% of players have confirmed they have no intention on getting vaccinated, unfortunately, I can see some form of shutdown happening again, which could have a massive knock on impact.

PL due to start 22/23 season on 6th August due to the WC, EFL a week earlier. Leaves little wiggle room to finish the season in time if one occurs.

Football should continue regardless. The liklihood is that it is too late to stop it infecting most of the population so just get on with it.

Would end up with a situation with some teams 5/6 games ahead of others. Not ideal

Clubs should be fined and players banned if refusing to Vaccinations. Utterly ridiculous

Teams should just play and use reserves of youth players.
