NathStPaul Yeah lets just test everyone forever, perfectly normal way to live.

Agree testing should be phased out but in the middle of the largest wave of infections being seen across Europe doesn't seem like the time to do that, just to stop a possible late postponement of a football game.

I would guess the EFL are just trying to break the cycle, it will never end otherwise. I think you also have to weigh up the fact we are talking about professional athletes here who are statistically less likely to be affected by the virus, especially if vaccinated. If we had huge numbers of deaths around the country then of course football should probably stop altogether, fortunately we are not in that position.

The approach I'd be more in favour of is to completely cut out training or at least enforce clubs to limit it to very small groups, only for a short period of time. Lets see if that has any positive impact on the amount of COVID cases within clubs. Would also stop teams travelling as a group, nothing stopping players driving to games individually or as part of a bubble.

Stranded Not sure on the best place to put it, so hear will do.

In order to stop games being called off due to positive tests, the EFL have come up with the briliant idea to stop testing on matchdays. Brilliant. Can't see any issues there.

Don't like having to do something when you get a positive result in your measures to protect player safety?

Just stop checking for player safety.

Rightly or wrongly, how much do you think any of the decision making (throughout Covid but even more so recently) is based on player safety?

I’d say whether the player himself gets Covid is virtually irrelevant in their eyes. Esp now most have had the chance to be vaccinated if they so wish, and the latest strain appears to be less severe

The attempts to prevent them spreading the virus to each other through testing and isolating seems the most relevant at this particular point :|

Don’t know that’s player safety as such though. More to stop more cases and more postponements than player welfare. Otherwise pausing the league altogether (or spreading out games and not forcing teams to play multiple games with 13 ‘fit’ players) at this stage would be more in line with looking after their safety

Why can't both Cardiff and Bournemouth lose?

Zip Derby winning at Stoke

Old Wayne doing a cracking job there to be fair to him all things considered. Wonder if Everton might take a look at him if things continue to go tits up with Benitez.

if in the unlikely account we finish the season below Derby with a 15 point advantage there is only one place we deserve to be and that`s L1,
Could make Monday interesting if they win tonight. defensively they are very strong. what could possibly go wrong?

He’s working wonders. If they win tonight it’s three on the bounce and they will be very confident of beating our lot.

Yep Derby don’t look strong on paper at all, but fair play to them they are still battling away and picking up good results

Would happily see Cardiff (despite playing Bournemouth) and Bristol both lose tonight

Have a feeling BC might well get pulled into the mix

Part of me wants Derby to do it but while we remain in a relegation scrap I have to ultimately root against them, Stoke make it 1-1.

My dislike of Derby trumps my dislike of Stoke purely because they are relegation rivals. I want them to lose.
