Chelsea fans being Chelsea fans. Fcuking knuckle draggers.

Tuchel's been unequivocal in condemning it.

The club have come out with a carefully worded statement expressing disapproval.

Abramovich was the first to buy a premier league? Someone might want a chat with Jack Walker

Not really an issue of him buying the league, more an issue of him being a prime mover in shifting the financial goalposts for the whole league.

Roman Abramovich sanctioned by the U.K. government. All UK assets frozen. Chelsea can still operate under a special licence but sale now on hold. Club will not be allowed to sell any more tickets - only season ticket holders can go to games for the foreseeable future.

Funny. Chelsea fans moaning about this but they were perfectly happy to take corrupt Russian money for 20 years.

Has he ever been convicted of any financial foul play? Not saying that to be contrary btw, genuinely not sure.

Not to my knowledge but then these sanctions aren't about that but his long term friendship/relationship/enablement with Putin.

Obviously, don't speak to me like an idiot. It was clearly a separate question relating to Abramovich's finances and the word 'corrupt' being used.

How you take the answer is on you, was merely anwering your question.

Seen a lot of Chelsea fans whinging about it and saying he's done nothing "illegal" so we shouldn't get hit - tough really.

Imagine any other clubs owned by Russians are a bit nervous at the moment.

This isn't what I am suggesting just be clear. Abramovich being sidelined should have happened weeks ago, he is a big Putin guy.

Are any other large European teams owned by a Russian? I know Bournemouth used to be, not sure about now.

He's done nothing illegal, well actually, as per new legislation passed, er let me check, oy yeah, on Monday, if the EU deems him to be sufficiently linked to the Russian war machine then he can be sanctioned, and can therefore also be sanctioned by UK Government.....

So in the eyes of the law of the UK, he has done something illegal, he's supported the Russian war machine, as defined by newly created UK law. Suck on that Chelsea.

I can't wait for Taiwan to be invaded and Dai to be sanctioned, it might be in Reading's interests.....i jest.

Abramovich is not being sanctioned because he is Russian, he is being sanctioned due to his proximity to Putin. So you'd have to draw up a list of Russian owned clubs, then cross reference their owners to how close they are to Putin.

This article suggests there aren't many with Bournemouth being the only other English club where the primary stakeholder is Russian - though no idea on links to Putin. May well be more minority shareholders naturally but shouldn't have as much impact.

https://www.planetsport.com/soccer/news ... outh-demin

Actually looks like Demin has UK Citizenship and no clear links to Putin, so unlikely to be any sanctions.
