United have clearly turned the corner by beating …..

(checks form) the most inconsistent team on current form

Two questions, both from the Chelsea game

What is the point of VAR ?

How often do we see someone that should have been sent off directly influencing the outcome of a game ?

Pity Havertz didn’t start his interview with something about how hard it is for Ukranians before telling us how hard it is for the players

Well done Arsenal. Would love to see them get into the top 4.....even better if they caught Chelsea.
They seem to be doing everything the right way under Arteta. Getting rid of over paid disruptive deadwood etc.
Started to invest wisely in players and not just pissing money up the wall like Chelsea and United.
Should be a cracker against Liverpool.

Yeah - Arteta doing well at the moment - need to fix their form against the top sides next

Disliking some of their antics on the pitch though, Gabriel’s reaction to Iheanacho’s slight hit was embarrassing and it isn’t the first time this season. Lacazette and Martinelli are bad for it too

As an aside, Xhaka continues to impress, it’s a shame he has too many brain farts otherwise he’d have been at a higher level, some of his range of passing is top drawer

Arsenal always seem to be 1 or 2 solid defenders away and a goalscorer away to be breaking into the top 2 or 3, but they always just never seem to deliver until a certain part of the season.

Seems that getting shot of Auba has done good. If they can keep hold of ESR, Saka and Martinelli next season and add a few , they will be very good

Pepe the Horseman Should that have been a red for ya man in goals for Brighton? If Diaz hadn't scored it would be a red and pen, but was still dangerous play so the goal shouldn't make a difference should it?

Clear red, terrible VAR work (no surprise really) by little Stewie Atwell, mind you Mike Dean didn't even think it was a booking

Did VAR just give up this weekend? Clear penalty ignored at Chelsea too (I'm slightly fewer convinced they got the Havertz elbow decision wrong)

Yeh, the Havertz one was an "I've seen them given", but the pen was nailed on.

Given that, in the words of Havertz, Burn is 7’6”, why was his elbow so high as to connect with his temple. That’s not using arms to jump

What about the foul for Diaz goal? I know he scored but isn't it not still very dangerous play?

Not seen it so can’t comment directly.
All I’ve heard is that the only people who thought it wasn’t red were the officials team (including VAR)

I'll be honest, I can see why it wasnt a red card. It looks terrible but the keeper is committed to charging out and basically star jumped to make himself big and Diaz had nipped in and flicked it past him, so unfortunately the keeper's clotheslined him. He was a bit slow to come out for it but I reckon he expected the CBs to deal with it better or Diaz to bottle it. It was an inch perfect pass from Matip though. Its not like a Schumacher where he turned side on and clattered him with his hip.

Having said that, if that was against us, I'd be a bit pissed off if the keeper stayed on.

Granted, £100m was too much (not his fault) but I think he will become a top player for them with a year under his belt.

Most players take a while to soak up what Pep wants from them and he is no exception. Not great tonight, same applies to all the attacking players, but he’s doing just fine.

Mahrez didn't. Silva didn't. KDB didn't.

Actually Mahrez did - struggled at times in his first season. I think Bernardo did as well actually but not 100% sure on that one. Sane took a while to get going, even Aguero had a poor patch

Don’t think Grealish is worth £100m but it’s an incredibly inflated market, especially for an English player too so it isn’t entirely surprising. Although do wonder if there’s any regret on Pep’s side for not bringing a striker in. Worked a treat last season not having a striker but they do find themselves stuck from time to time with no real alternative
