Preston finally conceded a goal this weekend, Birmingham scoring in the 16th minute at Deepdale, their eighth game of the season. This is a new English league record for the longest time without conceding from the start of the season, breaking Chelsea's mark by about an hour of football. Their 1-0 defeat means Preston's eight league matches this season have seen a total of three goals.

Don't know what Kalvin Phillips expected of his move to City - but his career, not least with England, is only going to stall if he can't get minutes on the pitch.

And on the England midfield, Harvey Elliott brilliant again at the weekend - he surely has to be on Southgate's mind for the Nations League, albeit I guess Italy away would be one hell of a baptism for him.

Phillips (although isn’t City standard of course) has been injured since matchday one I believe

Oldham's Hallam Hope seriously injured and hospitalised after being attacked outside Boundary Park after their game against Chesterfield - he will miss 'weeks' as he recovers from his as yet unspecified injuries.

Forest throw away another HT lead to lose 3-2 to Fulham.

Quick look on #nffc on that there Twitter and seeing fans calling for Cooper's head. Just. I mean. Wow.

It's almost as if buying an entire 2 full starting 11s to go with the 22 you already have would take time to gel and learn to play together

Who would have thunk it?

From Despair To Where? What they need is to be able to play all their signings at once.

Is that what you meant ?

He has sounded resigned to it for weeks. Just doesn't look up for it. Didn't think they looked bad for the majority of the game before capitulating.
Their owner I think has lost interest and a lot of money I believe....north of 100 mill.

Wonder if the fans might start getting “uppity” with the owner even if Rodgers gets the push and then esp. if a new bloke can’t change the fortunes.

Perhaps Leicester are destined to return to type and largely bounce around the top two divisions like Watford, WBA, Fulham and Norwich.

Arsenal look very good, but they need to pass the big tests against the top sides.

Very impressive.

Patience in Areteta and proper investment in the squad have really paid dividends.

As you say, the big tests to come but everything about them looks good enough for Top 3 right now.

Their fans are like Forest.....bit dilusional. A flukey premier League win and they expect to challenge every season but the owners just cannot keep pumping money into a club at that volume to get to that level and making those losses. They don't have the income or the fan base.

Yep, will be a very good indicator as to where both teams are.

He doesn’t get much due but credit to Lampard for turning Iwobi into a decent player

Never quite got the Lampard stick - did well at Derby (look at their decline since), and actually did quite well on the whole at Chelsea before a disastrous month of results got him fired. Kept Everton up last season with a very poor squad that was on a serious decline

Rodgers got to be in trouble surely, how he’s still in charge is a mystery - you can’t have the same fundamental errors three years ago (defending set pieces) as you do now and get away with it - simply aren’t capable of defending them. Reckon Moyes isn’t far off a bit of trouble, poor run of results really for 9 months now, bit of credit in the bank at the moment mind

Arsenal will win if they can keep their XI fit

Short in reserve though - must be terrifying for Arteta to realise next in reserve if Xhaka/Partey gets injured is Lokonga
