Zip Haven't seen the game but some of the comments on here seem harsh.
Narrowly beaten away from home by a team flying.

We have a week off now to prepare for WBA. Was the Hutchinson injury bad?

Wouldn't say harsh, we weren't at our best tonight and were well beaten. We could have lost that by more and I'd have not complained.

Zip Was the Hutchinson injury bad?

Happened in front of us. He simply sat down on the ground with nobody around him so didn't look the direct result of a challenge. Looked to be lower leg injury. Walked off unassisted around the edge of the pitch after being attended to

Their pen looked soft although we got away with one in the first half.

Hopefully not too bad then.

Absolute bollocks. We were quiet first half but hardly under the cosh and competed much better second half. QPR got a penalty and that was it.

Carroll and Joao isn’t working. I’m thinking Carroll knocks it down to Joao who scores. But Joao never seems to be there. And there’s no out ball when we need it.

Fully expected us to play just one up front. Think we need an extra midfielder against the better sides

Yeah, but we were playing QPR. Play 2 up but get them to play together.

Why Ince didn’t bring on Meite. As with Tuesday the game was crying out for a player who could run at them - take the game to them. I’m baffled why Ince seemingly doesn’t like Meite.

His subs were spot on Tuesday night but were poor tonight. Carroll was shot after 70, and Joao should have been hooked sooner for another poor display

As soon as QPR reverted to a back three/five was the opportunity to get Meite and Ince on and really press from the front but we dropped deeper and deeper and the winner was inevitable. As much as we lament the sloppy challenge by Loum, the goal was coming with or without the challenge

Must say as much as Ince has worked miracles this season, getting a little weary of listening to him complain about fixture congestion and tiredness. He has five subs to use each game yet never uses more than 3 (on one occasion he’s used more than 3, a 98th minute time wasting sub against Wigan). Given the option we now have and some of the positions we’ve been in this season (3/4 goal drubbings) there’s been ample opportunity to make more subs. It makes him look massively hypocritical

It’s one of those games that if we’d held out for a 1-1, this place would have been full of praise for a battling performance and an impressive second half display

1 set of mistakes and the pen conceded changes the complexion

I didn’t really see the goal coming at all tbh, thought the game had died a bit and was heading for a 1-1

In the context of the team we are I thought it was fairly encouraging

Agree about Meite but where do we fit him? Maybe up top with Carroll and drop Joao? But I prefer Carroll/ince as a pair and wouldn’t be too keen on Meite further back in this set up

Err…. I said? Bring him on as a sub. Rotate the strikers. Gives us a different attacking option when defence is tiring. It’s not difficult.

Would mean bringing off Carroll though - thought he was always our most likely option to grab something

Ince for Joao was the obvs swap. You could have maybe brought ince to the midfield and paired Meite and Carroll - but think ince is best at 10

There were options obvs but none that really would have made us better imo at the time

Carroll was knackered and offering aerial threat only. Meite would have run at them. Front 3 need to be rotated. Especially in a period with so many games.

Joao and Carroll hasn’t worked thus far. It’s an odd one.

I watched the game on Sky and thought that we did okay but the better side won. I’ll take a narrow defeat in this league against a decent team.

At the beginning of the season I wrote down a target of 16 wins plus 6 or 7 draws and so far the team have exceeded my expectations. I am expecting it to be another freak season like when Posh got relegated with 54 points.

I don’t know about anyone else but I still think that we could well end up battling at the wrong end of the table so I haven’t got over excited about our great start.

Listened to the first half and it sounded early doors like we re going to concede a goal.

Then the Hutch substitution swung it round, perversely, towards us. Saw someone posted the pen kick by AC2 on Twitter, well taken kick.

It seems like every time we play the Fakes, Dykes always scores against us. I said to senior in first half, someone needs to break his leg or head or both. He said to me he was a quality player, to which I responded, 'can't be that good, otherwise Scotland would be at the world cup'.
Either way, I had a feeling we were going to lose, but I hoped we would win. Hopefully we can turn the screw on Brucey and Ron next weekend. It would be nice to win against the Albion.

With tough away games to come we could do with a Brucie bonus next weekend

Because Joao is simply not interested, time to ship out.

Not a bad performance at all and another difficult away game out of the way.

I thought Chair ran the show and Hendrick was nowhere near as effective as he has been in the previous two home games.
Fornah and Loum broke up play quite a lot but we lack a Swift or a Chair to create more chances-we create very little but our conversion rate is really good.
Maybe Ejaria will recapture the form that he showed in those early days with us.

I agree with URRZZZ that Ince (and other managers) go on a bit too much about the number of fixtures.
Not many of ours go off on international duty so most have just had 2 weeks off and we don't play many first teamers in the League Cup.

Just over a quarter of the season gone and our position is way above any of our expectations and I will still be content to see us just stay up-the idea of promotion is unlikely and, at the moment, a frightening prospect.
