Yeah, Maguire can comfortably do a job for most PL sides, just doesn't seem like he will be the fit for United going forward but is still capable doing a job at PL level. I thought he had a decent game all things considered yesterday, not perfect but seemed competent. West Ham were maybe a little unlucky not to come away with anything really but for some good defending, poor finishing and a fantastic save by de Gea from Zouma's header. Rice's save was impressive, but relatively routine.

Some 'interesting' stats on Fabinho, he has won only one '50/50 tackle' (as defined by the PL) this season in 12 games, compared to 11 in 29 last season. Hasn't blocked a shot (11 last season). And is only winning possession (via interception or in open play or by recovery tackle) five times per game this season, compared to nearly eight last.

Confirmation bias maybe, but this reads like a player who isn't putting himself on the line as much. A lot to performances of course, but is Fabinho an example of a player who has the World Cup in mind?

I know a few Liverpool fans who have said the same thing, saying that Fabinho doesn't want to get injured ahead of the World Cup. I suppose the only way to know if there is any truth to those stats is if they improve once the World Cup is finished and the PL resumes. If Liverpool do improve though, then I'd expect these stats to improve from him personally, but it's an interesting theory for sure.

Fabinho seems to be covering a lot more space in the midfield and often finds himself in no-mans-land.

Are LFC not pressing from the front as much?

He seemed good at being able to clean up anything that made it through the initial press and VVD covered anything that tried to go over the top (obvs simplified but hope it illustrates the basics)

I remain convinced that the major difference is Mane
His work to close down that is now missing seems to be having a massive impact in other areas
Not for a minute am I saying that they were a one man team, far from it, but it’s interesting the effect of losing one part can have

Will be interesting to see which players get themselves booked next weekend meaning they miss the final weekend of games before the world cup, and instead have a nice week off on the build up

This weekend, tomorrow is November 5 and the last games are on the w/e of November 12. And therefore you’d probably want 2 yellows to be sent off to be sure - unless you’re on the 4 booking tightrope, or whatever it is in the PL.

I am probs getting mixed up on my weekeds tbh. I thought we had 3 weekends left? oh just noticed one weekend is cup games

yeah there are a list of players who are one booking away from a suspension. If Gabriel Jesus gets booked against Chelsea on Sunday then he misses their game against Wolves and has a 2 week break before Brazil's first game in the WC

Watched the stream of poor old Bournemouth going 3-1 up this afternoon only to get the chant from the Leeds' fans of 3-1 and you fcuked it up.
A stunning winning goal for the second week in a row by the 21 year old year old Summerville after a great run by the 19 year old Gnonto.
This after a cracking finish from 20 year old Greenwood.

Leeds do have some very energetic young players making them exciting to watch even if it is Leeds.

Indeed, I feel dirty but after 50 years of hate I am warming to them. And Marsch. I think he has had a very raw deal from their pig-shit thick fans.

I know how you feel but put yourself in my shoes as I have a Chelsea fan son (ever since Kerry Dixon went there) and a son-in-law who is a Leeds fan!!
Over the years I have mellowed in my dislike for both.

Conte’s insistence on starting so negative is strange. Against a team low in confidence, should have set his stall and played on the offensive but when you set up so passively, you get what’s coming to you. You can’t just start playing once you go 2 down

Kulusevski made a huge difference off the bench but there’s still gaping holes in that squad. Emerson Royal is a really poor player. Said Spurs’ results weren’t matching their performances at the start of the season, we’re now seeing the correct matchings

Agreed on Leeds fans and Marsch. Alongside Villa fans (albeit admittedly the Villa squad has had some significant investment), seem to feel that past glories make them entitled to Premier League comfort.

Conte's system relies on great fullbacks - Spurs' fullbacks are nowhere near good enough. Sessegnon hasn't really kicked on, Emerson is a liability, Doherty blows hot and cold. Perisic has been good but is now needed further up due to injuries.

Spurs were alright yesterday but you can't give every team a 2-0 head start.

In which case, I’m surprised he hasn’t given Spence a go from the start. Admittedly likely to be extremely raw but there’s a longer term benefit to playing him. There’s very little benefit to playing Emerson
