genome Spurs' main ITK on Twitter claiming Kane deal is done and he will be on his way soon. £100m rising to £120m with add-ons.

That's a great price tbh for a 30 year old in his final year of his contract.

It is a great fee but who do they replace him with? Virtually irreplaceable in that side.

If I was spurs I would try to sign Ivan Toney at a reduced fee due to the ban, bring someone else in short term to start the season to get them to January and basically play the PR game of 'season of transition during to Harry going', 'look how much this other lot have spent etc' and 'moving away from Harry needs a long term plan rather than immediate' etc to try to brainwash their supporters into giving them a free pass for 1 season

But he was never going to stay beyond a year. Put it another way. Would you play £100m + wages to have a player on loan for a year, however good they are?

They may as well face up to the challenge of replacing him with money in the bank.

You can't, really, you have to replace him on aggregate. Kane was 2 players in one, striker and creator. It will be interesting to see how Richarlison does in a proper central role this season and obviously they've got Maddison now too.

This is probably true but with him in the side it gives them a much better chance of Champions League qualification and in turn will put Spurs in a better position when it came to replacing Kane. To have to replace him at short notice is a nightmare and something not worth doing imo.

Spurs could do a lot worse than go for Evan Ferguson at Brighton and use the rest of the money to sure themselves up defensively. Not sure how easily they could get Ferguson mind you, Brighton are a hard taskmaster.

Kane has been carrying Spurs on his shoulders for several seasons now, they have the money now to buy a high class striker, but the selling clubs will know that all too well.
That`s a hell of a void to fill and i feel they may well struggle to make any kind of impact on the top 7 this season.
But the deal isn`t over the line yet.

I do wonder if the £10m or so extra Levy has extracted by playing hardball is worth less than the extra time would have been.

Agree a deal in June, have time to find a replacement, plan for the season etc. The timing of this is terrible for them, and increases the risk of spending it on a deadline day panic buy.

It is a huge shame for English football imo, huge loss to the league.

You could also argue that English players moving to the biggest clubs in Europe is good for English football. That's Bellingham and Kane, with the likes of Abraham and Tomori lower down the chain.

Oh it is good for the England team for sure, when I say English football I mean for the supporters who go to watch the games and the TV audience here.

Moises Caicedo saga not done yet.

Caicedo was due to leave for his Liverpool medical, but Sky Sports reporting this is delayed as Chelsea explore a higher offer.

Brighton laughing all the way to the bank. Their business model is incredible, best in football arguably.

This comment on BBC website makes some sense.

“You're not getting the whole Caicedo thing. We didn't have £100m when Jude was available, plus we didn't NEED him. The Saudis open their chequebook and we lost two big, older midfielders BUT got £50m extra. Now we need Caicedo.”

Would agree. Brighton and Reading were probably the same size club around 2016/17. Both are examples of how to run a football club and how not to run one.

Yeah remember laughing at them for years, not anymore. Very jealous of them.

Going from this shithole of a stadium and European football in just over 10 years is quite incredible.

Will see if Chelsea test their resolve, but Brighton supposedly standing firm on the deadline they set last night, i.e. negotiations over, so for Caicedo it is Liverpool, or stay at Brighton.

Kane still hasn`t travelled according to SSN, some kind of hold up, I wouldn`t be at all surprised if the whole thing falls through.

Wow. Caicedo informs Liverpool that he only wants to join Chelsea. This is mad.

Probably caught up in the holiday rush for check-in, security etc., at Stansted. Think I heard the Easyjet flight is delayed too.
