genome Spurs' main ITK on Twitter claiming Kane deal is done and he will be on his way soon. £100m rising to £120m with add-ons.

That's a great price tbh for a 30 year old in his final year of his contract.

Especially a bottle job who can't score a simple penalty in the biggest game in England's history

Fraud!

Various sources now saying that Chelsea are close to an agreement with Romeo Lavia.

This is an absolute disaster for Liverpool. What on earth has happened?

More distressing is that unspectacular PL players are going for 50m+

FSG is what has happened, utterly pathetic handling of yet another transfer window. Promising one thing again and totally failing to deliver again. These are transfers that should have been sorted quickly weeks ago not drawn out by pathetic attempts at penny pinching and despite Liverpool seemingly being screwed over by agents and a club that really should be embargoed after it's failure to comply with PL FFP they have nothing to blame but themselves. Can see the agitation on Merseyside to urgently get rid of what they'll see as a bunch of unambitious owners, that are making the club into a total laughing stock, growing.

Question though, how can a club be allowed to spend what might well work out to be £165m on 2 players just a week or two after receiving a fine (albeit a pathetic fine) for PL FFP breaches? Something really doesn't smell right!

Would have liked Caceido at Liverpool as he plays like Ya Ya Toure and looks a top player.
It does sound as though he ( or in fairness it might be his agent) might be a bit fickle and if he prefers to play and live in London so be it-didn't he supposedly want to go to Arsenal last January?

Don't feel the same about Lavia as Liverpool need a tackling midfielder whereas from what I have seen of Lavia he doesn't look to be a disciplined performer.
You fail to mention the bargain buy that is McAllister which IMHO was great business so the club has done something right.

So Liverpool move on and who knows they might end up with a better player such as the South American Andre or somebody else.

I remember reading Bill Shankly's comments about players in that it doesn't take a football genius to recognise a talented footballer but it is most important to establish what kind of person that player is-I wonder what kind of person Caceido is.

The Chelsea spend, spend , spend does seem odd in relation to FFP.

To be honest, even in the current climate, £110m for Caicedo is madness. Regardless of how good he is, I think Liverpool have dodged a bullet with that one.

There's a few clubs, not just them, who seem to be getting away with murder. Forest are another one. Unpaid wages to loanees, yet they are still allowed to sign players. If that was us....

110mill for a player as well who has had one good season is a joke. Bet he bombs like all these other expensive flops.
Personally that 110 mill is a joke for a player who has had one good season.

He is a decent keeper, just don't think he's a Premier League keeper. He will do fine at Real imo.

It does remain difficult to see how Chelsea comply with FFP going forward. They will surely need to sell players for big fees every summer.

And when does the new rule limiting the years of amortisation of transfer fees come in? Can only assume not yet, with Caicedo on an eight year deal. And there - beyond 'wanting to live in London' - is surely the attractiveness of Stamford Bridge. They will pay a 21 year old £200k a week for eight years. I doubt Liverpool were close to that.

Sure they said it was £250k pw on Sky. Whatever though, the authorities across all countries really should be trying to stamp this sort of stupidity out as it's only going to end badly with maybe even an elite club or two going under.

Now reported that Liverpool have had an offer of £60m accepted for Romeo Lavia. Decision now lies with the player. He'd have every right to feel pretty badly treated by Liverpool, tbf, transfer was close and then he was briefly cast aside for Caicedo.

Feel for Tyler Adams too. He was Chelsea-bound, transfer binned after the Caicedo deal.

Lavia is a really odd transfer, ridiculous money.

If I were Liverpool I'd have been cheeky and gone for Onana, impresses me each time I see him. Would have got him for a lot less than £60m you'd think given Everton's financial issues.

Statistically, Lavia is right up there. Only Caicedo and I think one other DM, had better stats last season in terms of attacking and defensive possession and tackles won. Absolutely a very good player, but for me question is more whether a 19 year old with one season behind him is ready to anchor a title charge, because ultimately that's what Liverpool's aim has to be.

Liverpool do have some depth - whilst they are also young players, to be able to bring on Jones and Elliott and Nunez late in the game yesterday is a luxury most clubs don't have. Equally that Doak also played shows that after that the squad is too small.
