Was looking forward to watching all the Sunday football in my favourite sports bar in Spain this Sunday and now I will be doing all I can to avoid having to be there.
There is no excuse for a top Premier League game of the weekend to not be on television on a Sunday. We as consumers pay a lot of money for the various sports channels and deserve a lot more for our money.

Sky just trying to make sure they get the best viewer:tv rights cost ratio for the Ryder Cup.

It is ludicrous, the top game of the weekend (Spurs v the 'pool) is on a Saturday at 5.30. Sky have numerous sports channels and not everyone's interested in blokes having a quiet walk round some parkland in dreadful sweaters hitting tiny balls about so why can't they still put the normal 2/3 games on Sunday?

Much as I like golf I agree with you.

VAR is a joke. Ruined a perfectly good game of football, nothing more than a yellow card. Fcuking cnuting VAR can do one.

Yes, can't see how on earth that was offside.

The key thing is when the ball leaves Salah’s foot. The one they showed at the time (and since) certainly made it look onside, but Salah’s foot was hidden so can they be certain when it left Salah’s foot?

The other angle (further back on the pitch) you could see exactly when the pass was made. And in that one His shoulder looked with the naked eye to have been in front of the defender’s foot. Although they have now admitted the mistake I do wonder whether the first view was not actually frozen as the pass was made. The body shapes looked different to me so maybe there was a split second difference in the freeze frames. Any way, just my musings, they have said they got it wrong so that’s that I suppose.

Delighted with the Spurs win, but the officials were just atrocious today. That Diaz decision is a disgrace

People moaning about how bad VAR is and that it should be done away with should remember that it was flagged offside to start with.

(It was wasn’t it, or am I mis-remembering that in all the commotion ?) :|

Whatever the rights and wrongs tonight, as I always say, VAR has resulted in far less errors being made. Just imagine if there’s no VAR, (and this will only fuel the fire of those want it done away with) how much time would Sky spend dissecting errors made by the officials? A hell of a lot more than now. And the ref’s would be hung out to dry.

The investigation and conclusion will be interesting. Someone will doubtless have some death threats coming their way next week.

It now seems as though goal-line technology is the only aspect that is always correct.
Yes, the Curtis Jones red is a matter of opinion even if that clown of a referee Simon Hooper decided to overturn his yellow decision based mainly on a still of the incident and only spent about 30 seconds looking.

The offside was not down to the clown but human error at VAR HQ and an apology has been given.
So now human error has become a feature of non-human technology.

Having wrongly (consensus of the TV pundits including Neville who is no great fan of Liverpool) dished out a red card card Hooper then yellow cards Jota when the Spurs player tripped over his own feet.

Hooper was demoted a few weeks ago after a dreadful refereeing performance so what is he doing so soon afterwards officiating at the top game of the weekend?

Brighton were affected most last season by bad VAR decisions and IIRC received 3 apology calls from Howard Webb.
Liverpool will now get the call but no points either .

VAR was brought in so that decisions like the lino's incorrect offside flagging would be rectified-today it didn't work because human error occurred both on and off the pitch whereas previously it only happened ON the pitch so is that really progress?

https://twitter.com/DaleJohnsonESPN/status/1708230850171867230?t=rWMwhSiTQe6ccdBOkyH7UQ&s=19

So the VAR said 'check complete' because he saw it was onside and agreed the goal was fine, but he had missed that the officials had flagged it as offside so they take his 'check complete' to mean he agreed with their decision.
