Wow... that brings back not just memories, but the actual feeling of that time. A bit like the 106 season. I remember that Birmingham away game, I could only get a ticket in the home end, but after 5 minutes a steward removed me and took me to the away end.

Bastards refused to let me walk 20 feet across the side of the pitch to join the Reading fans after the game, having sat politely in with the home fans the entire match.

Socks was the home game that year,

Seemingly innocuous yellow highlighted earlier in the game ... you know what that means!

PATRIQT I was surprised and sad to see at lunchtime, watching SSN, an interview with BM discussing his problems with depression and alcoholism.

I didn't see it all, but he explained even when we were crowned Champions, he felt we didn't play well enough and he just struggled with life in general.

Even looking back at the way he carried himself, you'd never spot he was struggling with mental health and alcohol.

Pulled on the heartstrings a bit, and I'm glad to see he's doing well, living in Marlow and more at peace with life.

Love ya, BM!

Missed this at the time (2022!) but it's a really good interview with the man.

There's a few bits which are pretty sad to hear.

Pretty sure he wasn’t helped by the ‘pen full of turkeys’ that were set-up at the Madstad (courtesy of the rag Daily Mirror? ) seemingly there to humiliate the team and his management of them.

Brian was interviewed sometime ago on either the BBC Berks, 1871 or Elm Park Royals podcast... can' remember which, But BBC Berks Reading FC one would be my guess. He was talking about these issues and how he is involved in going round educating young players and providing support.
