Wrexham also looking to add Jay Rodriguez. Does Parkinson just play with 11 forwards? Adding in Palmer, Mullin, Marriot and Fletcher...

Like a rusty dagger through the heart, if it is £2m in the modern crazy world of football transfers that's £20,000 in old money

Don't know about us getting a replacement but Wrexham are looking to now sign striker Jay Rodriguez from Burnley (via Pete O'Rourke on Twitter)

Very angry with this.

Need to get to the summer and hope we can squeak enough points to survive. Sale of Garcia should see us have the money to finish the season. Can't blame Smith for going either, no bad blood on him and hope he does well at Wrexham.

Dai clearly isn't going to sell. He's just a fat oxf*rd.

Fee agreed with Burnley and having medical, Smith could end up a bench warmer.

Its promotion or sack for Parky

Perhaps Wrexham are going to loan Smith to Hull so he's reunited with Selles

Confrimed on OS now.

Whilst the club was not actively seeking to sell Sam, the significant offer payable by Wrexham will help support the essential short-term finances required to run the club.

Parky saves the club again :D

Parky helps Dai to continue to avoid spending any more of his own money on the club.

Always thought he had a nasty streak in him!

We need 4 more points to be mathematically assured that we won't get relegated.

….and with this (supposedly big) money, hopefully points deductions are less likely.

However, I liked having Sam around and grafting up front (even if, on a lot of occasions it was to no avail)….and thanks for the goals Sam.

My biggest compliment comes from whilst sat amongst the Pompey fans at Fratton last season…they were crapping themselves on his behalf pre kick-off

Not true in a million years - most teams have 18 games to go - max yield 54 points - 45 points is nowhere near enough!!

but a lot of those 54 points come at the expense of other teams (i.e. they all cannot get get 54 points)

Fwiw, we are in a good place to survive, in case you care to do those maths….deductions notwithstanding.

£2 million is a lot of money,
He wasn't going to be much use if we ever go up to the championship,
We can start playing properly again now and stop trying to recreate the Cambridge (A) goal with every long ball,
Kelvin E is also a 20 goals a season striker.

I'm still pissed off though. Can't he see that this is as good as it gets for him. It's not going to be much fun sitting on the Wrexham bench as they get caught out over the next few years with only a loan move to the likes of Lincoln to look forward to.

Would you hang around working your arse off for your bankrupt employers when there is more money and potential to be had in a progressive company Jack?

He was the nastiest bastard we had. Every half decent side needs a villain with elbows the opposition hate. I don’t think we have one of those now.

On average in League 1, 45 points is enough to ensure a team doesn't get relegated; however, "mathematically assured" is not an accurate description so withdraw it.

Reading will likely need 5 more points to be safe from relegation this season given the aforementioned average total for safety in the division. As Dai, I believe, is the only one that can put the club into Admin, Reading won’t need another 12 points on top for that reason though they might need extra points to cover deductions for fan behaviour, game disruptions and any failures to pay staff but hopefully Parky has saved the club from that last threat.

Yet another “biggest summer ever” for the club is on the way.
