I list it as a club record, makes no difference who gets more than 106 we’ll always hold the club record.

What about if the club does go bust, a new entity is set up, climbs back up to the EFL and manages 107 points?

Wouldn't it be a new club? Therefore, the old record stands for a club that no longer exists . The new club would start with a club record in season one and there would be a new club record when that points tally is bettered.

The fact that Wimbledon got the FA Cup back from MK suggests that everyone is happy for a newly created to claim the heritage of the club it succeeded.

I've always found it a bit odd that people care about whether someone beats 106 at a lower level. For me it's always primarily been about the second tier of English football. If someone broke it in the top flight, especially with their shorter seasons, then yes we'd look a bit tinpot singing about the record. But nobody who holds a top-flight record particularly cares if clubs in lower divisions do better, and equally those who hold a second-tier record shouldn't care if a team beats it in the third tier.

There was a time when Football League was meaningful, but these days we have a level above the Football League, and a professional tier below the Football League, so it's basically purely administrative.

Frankly, if you'd stop being proud of the record because a third-tier team beat it then you shouldn't have been proud in the first place, because of Doncaster Rovers in 1946-47 in Division Three North. They got 72 points, with two points for a win, which translates to 105 points under three points for a win... and they only played 42 matches. That's clearly better than 106 from 46.

I do think the harsh schedule of the final run-in will probably mean Brum fall short of the record, they have a couple games that are 5 days apart, the rest are less than that.

I'm hoping for Promoted + Cup Final = feet off the gas.

Their run-in looks piss easy otherwise.

They've annoyingly handled it well, very worried about the record at this point, they can afford to drop 6pts in their last 6 and have only dropped 4 in their last 10. They're basically untouchable at home but thankfully 4 are away from home.

Basically inclined to write off those home games, especially since they're against Crawley and Mansfield so their away games:

Burton - Pretty shite team but still fighting relegation and Bowyer does seem to have improved them
Stevenage - Pretty average home record, nothing to play for, form is pretty average to poor
Blackpool - Strong form especially at home, hopefully within 6pts of the play-offs by the time this game rolls around or nothing to play for.
Cambridge - Last game of the season, probably relegated by then, point to prove? Honestly if Birmingham are able to break the record at this point, they'll do it.

Honestly struggling to see where they are dropping 8 points to be under 106. Blackpool is the only tough one amongst that.

It does look like they'll do it, which is very impressive, although akin to Chelsea breaking it in the Championship... spend that much money and you bloody should get a points record.

otherwise, early fixtures don't really affect us.

cup final win should ensure the flip-flops are well and truly in place

Burnley after another one of our records. They're 29 unbeaten.

We hold the record, jointly with Liverpool, of 33 unbeaten in the second tier. Burnley have four to play so can only equal it this season.*

*Unless they're already at 30 - I can't remember whether the commentator on Friday said 29 before or after the game.

Correct, they can only equal it, As for a 2nd tier record, if that's the case, we are actually 35 games unbeaten as we only lost on game 3 after our return following relegation.

Ah, but our 2005-6 run was game 2 to game 35 when we lost at Luton so we can't have the three from next second tier season. I think we're stuck on 33.

Birmingham drop 2 points at home to lowly Crawley - max they can get is now 111.

I know it's not _our_ record but I do like to think that there is an annual thread like this on the Derby forum that is getting very excited to see Southampton losing again :D

Not ultimately but at the time I posted they were losing. Thanks to the last minute leveler they'll now be hoping for a big shift in goal difference....

Yeah, it's gone, they won't mess this up....2 wins and a draw with 4 games left should see em over the line.

Yeah looks like it. They've not tailed off enough. But five games in 13 days is a tough ask for a team with nothing but a record to play for.

I'm not clutching at straws but looking at the table I was surprised to see how few goals (relatively) they've scored

There's basically no way GD can come into it, right?

Better their results and GD doesn’t matter.

WW that's a minimum of +22 for them at 1 goal wins, so we've got to get 6 goal wins in both games just to tie.
WD +21 minimum, requires an 11 goal win in 1 game, with two wins we're ahead on points.
WL say +1, -4, that's +17, means we have to win one by 7 and lose one by 1,
DD - can't increase our GD unless we go ahead on points
Anything worse than that results wise and we're either ahead on points or we can't increase our GD.

Rovers next, so I guess we could go out and try and smash them, but we're not exactly creating or scoring a lot right now, bar Mansfield gifts.
