I kinda get it though. Family and friends come and go, as do we all, but you expect your club to live on in perpetuity... it's a permanent fixture of life.

And a focal point of life for some, with tens of thousands of hours and pounds invested into it.

In some ways it can be more akin to a person's faith and religion, than a hobby.

Honestly, having a newborn son, my priorities have shifted massively.

Yes, it would be nice for the club to carry on going and I'd love to be able to take my son to games in the future. But in the grand scheme of things - his health and happiness is my main focus and that isn't changing.

Putting things into perspective, I was chatting to a co-worker who is a Reading fan. Their job is at risk, their marriage is a mess, they have health issues, they have a family friend with a terminal illness and could finish the year unemployed, at risk of losing their home, divorced, further deteriorating health, attending their family friends funeral and worse, but the thing that concerns them most, which they worry about the most is the prospect of Reading FC ceasing to exist.
Yes, they arguably have some of their priorities wrong, but I think we all get it.

When things are as bad as this is for your collegue, having something else to focus on may be a good diversion them. Like you say, most of us get it. I hope things improve for them.

We all cope with things differently. What may seem like a trivial thing to some can have a huge importance to others. ; none of us should judge

IF RFC has put forward the offer of putting £6M into Escrow, and if that's the only thing holding up the sale to Platek, then where is the issue for Mr Couhig?

If he thinks he is owed £12m?

He won’t think that.
He may be working on asking for 12 and being prepared to graciously accept 8.
Reading may think 8 would be a good result.
So Reading pitching 6 would mean Couhig having to drop his expectations because he’ll be agreeing that 6 is the security needed. And would mean Reading paying less than they might think.
On those numbers Couhig might come back and say he’ll accept the escrow if it’s 7 and then everyone can shake hands.
It’s like any negotiation, everyone has an actual figure they’ll go for but they’ll throw all sorts of others into the mix.
Given the wealth of the people involved you’d hope the odd million wouldn’t break it, it is after all free money for Couhig whatever the amount.

Whatever it is must be known to the club previously so really shouldn’t be a surprise. The company concerned must have been in contact and asking for payment previously, you don’t just sling out a winding up petition if a payment gets missed.

Also didn’t the judge say that there is no bar to the club sale being completed, so why does the security bit for RC need his OK before proceeding?

Wonder what the next bit of cr@p will be?

I doubt anybody would buy the club without these issues resolved

Platek can’t lend the club any money to solve these issues because there are no unencumbered assets to use as collateral

And Dai has a week to sell the club before oblivion

Yes, winding up petitions are regarded as a last resort because of the legal costs associated with them. I'm sure the agency have chased on numerous occasions but the background to Howe's suspension showed us how he/the club tend to deal with agents!

I think the judge meant that if both parties (Dai & RC) wanted to make things work, they could, and then the sale would be able to take place.

The petition is meaningless. If Dai, Platek and Couhig can't find a solution is the next few weeks we're completely fcuked. That was the position before the latest news and remains the position now.

You can search up on Court records this type of thing, and over the tenure of Dai's owner ship IIRC , we've had three other Agents / Companies serve us winding up petitions .

Its no big deal really, as the club will no doubt pay up - unless there's a dispute. A lot of companies these days don't oxf*rd around if their Customer is in default and swiftly take this path.

I wouldn't be surprised that if there's a sale of the club pending - direction from above would be to hold )all non essential) payments going out.
