Carnabyswhiskers Not exactly an 'Oppositions fan' but this from the Peterborough Evening Telegraph:

3) Posh earn plaudits from opponents because they always try and play rather than rely on hoofball and the tedium of long throws. It’s rarity in League One this season and the ugly nature of the division could be exposed to the nation in the play-offs if say, Wrexham, Huddersfield, Charlton and Stockport, were all involved. Reading sneaked back into the play-off places yesterday and I hope they stay there. Their football was excellent at times yesterday. They kept possession in tight areas much better than Posh. They looked a vibrant young team well led on the pitch by experienced midfielder Lewis Wing. Given what’s gone on at the club in the last couple of seasons they are the real fairytale story of League One this season rather than the club in North Wales.

Well played Peterborough Evening Telegraph! Kind words but true enough

If we did somehow get sold and then promoted it would in my unbiased opinion be one of the most extraordinary footballing achievements I have seen. Not on a par with Leicester, but competing with Forest for the story of English football this season.

Autocorrect on my message. Was meant to refer to my unbiased opinion, not my unbeatable opinion, though that would be in keeping with HNA?

Most of them are saying along the lines of they dominated first half without really creating anything and then went to shit after some dodgy substitutions.

Mixed opinions on the penalty, some saying he took the ball, but most saying it was a clumsy challenge that looked a penalty.

Very few comments about us but nothing too far away from what we were saying in our match thread.

Imagine for a moment that we do get promoted. The season the 106 points record is broken, no-one cares because an even more significant event occurs!

That would be delicious.

BTW complete agree on the achievement too. It would be up there!

From Shrewsbury after last night:

"I'd feel very hard done by if this game meant anything. Reading should have had at least 1 player sent off for several bookings that were not given. We had enough chances to win 3 games but Reading were clinical.

Not sure how Reading are 6th though, terrible defensively. If it wasn't for our woeful finishing we would have had the game won first half."

"How crap are the reading fans, win takes them into the play offs despite all the off the field issues and they are silent."

(Both these posts from the same guy, who is a mod on their board! :D )

"Reading bossed the game second half but they were winning 3-1 and just kept the ball and passed it around making us frustrated trying to get possession."

And what else should we have done? Tried to score 4?

I'd say one of the reasons we're sixth is because we weren't great for large parts of last night's game, but we won it 3-1. Good teams win when they're playing badly, bad teams can have loads of pressure and possession but if they can't convert that to goals they won't be successful.

Also on the potential red cards, for me watching on TV Savage's wasn't even a foul. The crowd and home players got right in the ref's face trying to get him sent off, but for me it looked a good challenge in which he caught the player a bit on the follow through. He was looking at the ball the whole way.

Camara's second challenge was a foul, but he slipped as he went in to close the player down which made it look worse. A second yellow for that would've been incredibly unlucky, in my opinion.

Ah well, another excellent win and one out of adversity, which can only help us in the run-in.

Am I the only one who saw the penalty they should have had if the ref or lino had looked the right way?

We were really bad first half. But Pereira pulled off good saves and Shrewsbury are rubbish at finishing. And whilst we may have not defended well, their defence had their keeper flap one into the net and then back heel an off target shot into the net.

We're 6th because the division is distinctly mediocre, Hunt has made us hard to score against and hard to beat, and most teams will gift you a goal chance at some point in the match, which we can often finish.

No I thought they had a clear pen (Yiadom I think) but they barely seemed to appeal if it’s the same one

Have to thank their keeper for last night - he’s always been quite good whenever I’ve seen him but 2 goals due to him

That's the one, centre of the box, Marquis(?) wrestles ahead of Yiadom to get clear ready for the cross and Yids just grabs him and throws him bodily to the ground. Meanwhile, Ref is looking at the ball in our LB position/their right flank.

Ball breaks for us, we go forward, Wing scores.

Saw a fair bit of him at Livingston and he's the sort of keeper who will play a blinder for 85 minutes then throw one in. Always got a mistake in him.

It would be great to hear if Mansfield fans are giving us any credit for the clinical finishing or just moaning about their rubbish performance.

Nope ...... 8)
We set up FIVE goals for them
.

Shambolic and embarrassing…against one of the worst sides I’ve seen at FM this season. Our players should be ashamed of that performance

During the game, both. Bemoaning the fact they gifted us 5 goals but commenting that we just took every chance handed to us.

Hurts more because Reading didn't have to do anything really, certainly didnt break a sweat did they

To me it felt like we gifted them every goal through errors we made in our defensive third. The scoreline makes it look as though they bossed the game but they created little by themselves

Looking at their fans today it's an achievement for them to put one foot in front of the other.

You could argue we ... encouraged, forced is over playing it, the errors through our press and work rate.

We anticipate well, fight for the ball and rush defences who try to play out, then nick the ball when they make a mistake and break.

Its why passing out is such a bad idea in the lower leagues. The players simply don't have the quality, composure and consistency to do it under a high pressure press without error game in game out. It takes good awareness, composure, touch and passing. The press just takes high energy and teamwork.

I think it's more that they've only won 2 in 22 and are absolutely shot of confidence. Reading their forum, they've been making those sorts of mistakes every game but we were clinical enough to punish them every time.

Wing's goal was the only one where they were under any real pressure. 1st, the passer didn't look and the receiving player wasn't anticipating, 2nd was down to piss poor defending, 4th was a poor kick out to a static player and then no defender following up the rebound and the 5th was a wayward pass under absolutely no pressure across the box.

If that was our defence doing that, I'd be spitting feathers.

Nigel Clough simply said the Mansfield performance was error strewn, pathetic and inexcusable.
