Forbury Lion American potential buyers Couhig and Platek....... Chinese seller.....This isn't going to somehow be screwed up thanks to Trumps Tariffs is it? There's no tarrif on cash is there?

Yes Forbes; Trump is sat there right now about to sign an Executive Order making it impossible for an American businessman to buy an English League 1 football team from a Chinese businessman.............

(Though to be fair, with that Sociopath - I mean Trump rather than Dai - I wouldn't put anything past him!)

Looks like a legal search was just done on the SCL to protect a pending purchase by Redwood Holdings. A sale might be on the way and it might finally be Couhig...

Ah, bless. Fancy thinking that fans matter to anyone involved in the world of football finance.

To be fair, it's not unreasonable to expect a company to communicate to its customers. Keeping your customers onboard is quite an important part of any business plan.

I know we're all loyal mugs, and are unlikely to go off and support Swindon or Aldershot because Reading disappoint us, but it's probably good business to keep the fans onside. It's not like the PL where we could be replaced as a "legacy supports" revenue stream by tourists in the stadium and streaming revenue from Thailand or Indonesia.

On the other hand, you wouldn't expect Sainsbury's to give it's customers regular updates on takeover talks.

People expect to be kept updated with information levels which are simply never going to be shared and aren't appropriate to share. And then complain when there is a statement that it isn't enough and a week later want another one.

People don't really want a statement, they want the deal done.

I agree people do want the deal done, but weren’t we promised regular updates from the club at one point. One right now wouldn’t go amiss.

Was saying on Twitter:

1. Searches can only occur after an offer has been accepted.
2. You can’t initiate a search if someone else is involved in trying to buy the property.

My take is that the Platek deal has collapsed and DY has accepted RCs offer. But I wouldn’t put money on it (I have rarely felt confident in any of my takes with this circus).

News
Couhig ‘chirping off’ on local radio that he is now in a position to buy the club….if he wants to.

I'm fairly confident that (sadly) you don't need to have had an offer accepted, or be the purchaser, to carry out a priority search in protection of a prospective purchase.

What the search does do is stop anyone else from buying the property. The cynic in me feels this is Couhig trying to block any sale to Platek before the expiry of the EFL's deadline.

RC’s rejection of the escrow may well have put an end to the Platek deal as his loans were contingent on the escrow being accepted so he may well not want to proceed.

As long as Dai sells to one or the other I don’t care.

Selling to Couhig will put a stop to his claim for loss of future profits, however trumped up they were. I’d imagine if you take that into account the Couhig deal is now more valuable than the Platek one.

Would literally take anyone the EFL deems fit above Dai now.

This. People saying they don't want Couhig are nuts. I just want the club to start next season and Couhig would provide that.

100%. Also, I think a couple of posters called this much earlier in this thread.

If what I heard last night is true, you are spot on. Platek has pulled out because of the liens and Couhig is taking over.
Regardless of his methods, if this does pan out he's played an absolute blinder.

If it is to be Couhig, it's obviously better than being expelled from the league or going into administration, or any of the other scenarios that followed from Dai's disqualification.

He would start with a clean slate. I hope he doesn't asset strip the club, but instead runs it as well as he did Wycombe. things have changed so many times over the past year that what seemed to be the case at one stage is no longer relevant.

But he must stop wearing those massive New Balance trainers with baggy chinos. That's obvious.

If he does and finds a cheaper suitable alternative, more power to him.

Can we give it a few years before we commit? We’ve been here before. Consider us the damaged goods side of the relationship that will need to be convinced that we won’t get hurt again.
