WestYorksRoyal The league position should have no impact on negotiations. Whilst NDAs keep details private, it has been reported many times that the deal has add ons for promotion. If both parties agree terms, they can crack on and get it done.

Yes it’s getting the idiot to sign off on a sale that’s always been the issue, all the “unknowns” (promotion/play offs etc) can be dealt with in simple add on percentages.

99% of the work on the deal was all completed and ready to go last September so there really shouldn’t be much else to work on, unless yet another “Dai mess” has been subsequently upturned somewhere

I expect that we will hear something official at the end of the day; I am slightly surprised we haven't done so far to be honest...............

I was pretty sure it would be announced at 10 today. Cannot really imagine that anything is still being decided today that would affected what the EFL do next. So where is this announcement I keep looking for every fifteen minutes?

Forbury Lion
Sutekh The club are now in negotiations with someone who is well known to the FL, and there has been movement forward to complete as apparently there was a survey completed on Bearwood last week, so they should be happy to extend to May 7th.

Interesting, Rob Couhig was set to buy the training ground once before as Wycombe owner and again with his earlier bid which was ready to be signed so you'd think he would have had it surveyed at least once already.

I see five possibilities

1. The survey is for a different buyer
2. Rob Couhig is just checking it's all as it was before as he doesn't trust the current owner
3. It's a requirement of a lending institute the new owner plans to take a loan or mortgage out with against the training ground
4. Rob Couhig plans to immediately flip the training ground and sell it to a pension fund or something and then have the club sign a 100 year lease to rent it back.
5. Something else

I don't think he got as far as that last time - he just expressed interest when the club/Dai began hawking Bearwood around. Besides which, you'd be an idiot to just take on trust that Dai hadn't used Bearwood as security for something else since last Autumn. Experience will surely have taught Couhig to go slowly and check everything three times.

I'm in the firm camp of "chill out as it's obvious it's just an extension to be announced"

But I must say it's feckkng ridiculous there's been no announcement yet. I don't understand it and think it's pretty shit to be honest

They know fans want to know and will be refreshing all day.

Yeah. Every announcement I've seen from them has been during that time as I see the announcements when I'm waiting for the bus home from work.

That's on the general EFL account, you want to be keeping an eye on the EFL Comms account.

PieEater Probably the best result for the sale progressing is if we don't make the playoff.

Best result for the EFL !

yeah the EFL must be praying we finish a 'brave' seventh

Practically 5pm and still nothing from the FL, what’s going on? Have the club not provided something? Have the FL decided to throw the club out but don’t know how to say it? or is it just clueless organisation?

Are they perhaps just dealing with the volume of work from a double bank holiday weekend?

We're not out until they throw us out. So whether they announce an extension or not is largely immaterial. The only thing that matters is have they kicked us out the League? Not yet.

Considering the severity of the situation, how much rides on this, the fact we're at the cliff edge, I think it's a big shite to leave this so late

They know the 22nd is in all our diaries. They could have had some consideration and published the update earlier. Like midday

Surely it's simple at this point

Is sale progressing but not done - yes just say it then

Or

Is sale completed fully - yes, then say it and we all go down the turtle

Or

Sale looks absolutely doomed - but just say it's ongoing and updates in a couple of weeks

Disagree. They are well aware of the emotional suffering g some fans are going through. They know every single Reading fan is waiting for this update. There is nothing more important going on for the EFL at this very moment than telling the fans if we still have a club in the league. I know you want to stick up for them at every opportunity, and I have in the past but blaming the lack of a quick update with what’s going on because of Easter is ridiculous ian. Read the room. I actually think it’s bang out of order it’s been left this late also.

Couldn't agree more with you Brogue. It's entirely in keeping wit this whole shit show

Fans left hanging on endlessly.

To boil it down this could be our last day with a club - of course we know we'll play the last games but that's what this deadline represents

It's league expulson and they're just leaving it until the literal last minute of the working day. The absolute caaaants

Nothing like this is simple. The decision will need senior sign off, and everyone has been away for four days, then the announcement will need drafting and approval before posting.

Not to mention, the deadline is today. For all we know everyone has been rushing round mad trying to get everything complete by 5, or mid night and no extension is needed.
