Royals and Racers One person we can’t afford to lose is Brian Carey- head of recruitment.
Agreed, at least until we recruit someone from Norwich as there's a Brian Carey bought a Canary song waiting to be unleashed.

Minds will be blown if he's hirsute and his wife is a virgin

Mid Sussex Royal If anyone on here is Huang Kad I reckon its Elm Park Kid.
If you translate "huang kad" from Cebuano (Google detected this as the input language) to English it reads "You are here".

Cebuano is primarily spoken by the Cebuano people in the Philippines, particularly in the region of islands known as Central Visayas

The Cebuano people, also known as Sugbuanon, are the largest subgroup of the larger Visayan ethnolinguistic group, which constitutes the largest Filipino ethnolinguistic group.

Soooo.... Anyone here from the Philippines?... or anyone called Phillip Innes or Ino?

Kad can also mean ticket in Chinese, so maybe someone from the ticket office?

or just some random name generated by this twitter user.

Royal_jimmy Apparently Couhig is on BA224 flight from New Orleans to Heathrow later.

Anyone fancy being the new bush watch person tomorrow? :?

Is there actually any reason for him to be flying in - this just feels like a Twitter rumour to me.

If the deal is done bar signatures, it will be with the lawyers and Couhig will just need to sign the paperwork which can be done from his home if he so wishes.

I would be surprised, if after last time, he comes anywhere near the UK until the deal is done.

I’m optimistically going to say maybe the deal is done and he’s coming in for the photos

Well if he was on that flight it's fair to say that he's just landed as of this minute

Huang Kad is a homonym of Wankered

So maybe it's just his permanent state?

We all need to be wary as it could all get quite scary.

Dai clearing out aside, where do we think this big clear out will come? The playing squad is bare bones really and will lose some of the out of contract players plus we’ve already had a number of cost cutting initiatives in the last couple of years.

The only thing left that would make a significant difference really would be with the academy.

As an aside, one of the worst aspects of the last few seasons is we’ve reached a stage where when we talk about “the club” doing this or that we don’t really know who/what “the club” is. Is it Dai? Is it the CEO bloke? Is it some work experience dude doing the comms?

It’s not so much a clear out that’s needed as a clear, structure to replace whatever is going on now. Can’t imagine it’s been much fun for anyone associated with RFC in a working capacity these past few years .

I think he means the club needs a clearout on the non playing staff, and TBF he has a point.

Yeah, heard too many rumours of problematic staff members, rumours so take with a pinch of salt but it feels like a "no smoke without fire" situation.

Depends on what form “problematic” takes but it’s a tad harsh after 3 years of uncertainty, wondering whether they’ll get paid on time, watching their colleagues get culled in numerous cost cutting exercises, to just clear em out.

Think under the circumstances I’d be inclined to cut people a little slack. Not that it matters really. A new broom will sweep all anyway in all likelihood.

It must be difficult to get hold of the right kind of person to work behind the scenes in a football club. Players and coaches come and go, but the core of the club's staff must stay around for a while. I think Sue Hewitt has been around since the Elm Park days for example.

You're looking for people with passion for the club, as well as skills for the role, and I'm inclined to think there aren't many people around who fit that bill and will stick around during all this uncertainty.

If I was the new owner I'd be looking to give the majority of this staff a go as they have kept the club going through this nightmare. Obviously any proper bad apples should be got rid of but otherwise I'd say most people have earned the chance to work in a stable environment.

Hopefully the new owner won't take the Sir Jim Radcliffe approach to getting things in order by cutting almost insignificant spend which had a bit positive impact on the staff. Sir Jim cut the stewards £50 bonus awarded to the Steward of the day as part of the cash saving initiatives, at the sometime paying millions to sack someone to run things they hired not long before.

I imagine if Rob Couhig does take over, we'll be run in a similar way to how he ran Wycombe. Maybe scaled up/down accordingly, maybe taking advantage of additional things we already have/do.

Pretty sure more money can be made from the stadium, Other than acting as a finish line for the Half Marathon, Have there been any events other than Reading FC matches held there in the past 2 or 3 years?

Aside from events in the actual conference rooms - no (unless they're so small to be just insignificant).

I've said this so many times before. I'm sick of seeing bands and concerts, comedians, big events, all advertised for London and then you see Milton Keynes on the list, and Brighton, and other stadiums.

We're losing out on so much revenue. Of course some of our fans were the same ones wanting London Irish to go because "they were ruining our pitch".

Couhig is a real businessman and I'm sure he's not stupid. He'll want to increase profits, income, business opportunities, partnershpis, commercial deals, etc. so he'll have loads of ideas I'm sure.
