We've looked alright going forward but the major, major problem is we have ZERO threat up front. Everything coming from the midfielders. We all know it, something more needs to happen in the transfer market this week.

Jackson Corner You can’t sell your goal scorers and expect to win games no fault with effort work rate. But we could play to midnight with this team and won’t score. Going to be a long season.

They have cashed all their chips on MOM and I would not be confident that a kid with very little first-team experience is going to be able to deliver the 20 goals we need from a main striker. At this level you need to be streetwise and tough so while he might be a good option as an impact sub, it's a massive mistake to ask him to lead the line for the season.

He looks like what he is, an agent-led signing from the German lower leagues. In other words, a massive and hopeful punt,

Whoever his agent is has hawked him around Europe and we have taken the bait (and the reason for that remains unclear as his record even in German lower leagues was bang average). I am not sure why we signed him but I have my suspicions. It's rare you see someone journey from the German lower leagues to have a successful career in England and there is a reason for it.

I do want to see us beat Lincoln. They are annoying me. Hopefully we're in a better rhythm when they visit and can dish out a spanking.

It's not solely about 20+ goals.
Leading the front line is also about holding the ball up, and bringing others into the attack. Namely, Dave Kitson.

On the bright side we were in it for 3/4 of the game and with the rub of the green could have got a draw. Elliott looked very good for half a hour. But none of the new men made a good first impression for me. Early days, but we definitely need a focal point in attack. A new Andy Carroll!?

It's surely a matter of time until Lane has bedded in enough to replace Camara. Think Devante Cole would be a huge signing too based upon today. More physicality, hold up play and experience up front

Well that was all very predicable.
Susceptible to balls OTT through the centre
Pretty toothless and the plan is give it to Wing and hope for the best.
Awful lot of improvement needed on that display.

Can't see much for us in what is a tough first month or so. Players need to get used to each other and we just haven't got the bodies in the door early or quick enough for a the squad to gel properly.

I have been listening to BBC Berks. audio commentaries since before Tim started doing them. The last few years on Ifollow/Royals TV and al I can say about todays is that is the most dire I have endured. Silence at half time, couldn't wait to get away after the match. No discussion or man of the match etc. The commentator said before closing the programme "Thanks foe watching", showed why. RC said he will improve Royals TV, pity he had to ruin the audio side of it to do so.

Was fully expecting to lose today - but ended up feeling a bit hard done by.

Surely our aim is to scrape enough points together to not be too far back by November. I can't see us possibly doing any better with a brand new team before then.
