MR. CYNICAL Bit harsh on Sticks

More so than bench sitting or U23s here.

And at this point he's looking 4th choice behind O'Connor, Burns and Williams.

But you need at least 4 CBs over a season and would be good for him to stay here as an understudy and get the odd runout.

O'Connor, Burns, Williams and Ferguson would make 4, plus cover from Yids, Jacob and Dorsett makes 7.

I was responding to him being 4th choice.... If he's 8th choice then needs to go on loan.

Fair enough, you'd obviously only send him if Dorsett moved into CB or we signed Ferguson (and someone wants to take him).

So I presume a decision on completing a deal should be expected by close Monday.

Had a strong game by all accounts.....but I guess the question is do we need him?

If he has a spot of pace, and can play any defensive position successfully, then I presume it'll be a no brainer but actually think the club is well off for midfielders and defenders and the only thing missing throughout the side is pace. Therefore I say keep all the money together for a half decent striker (esp. one that can hold the ball up).

If he’s still got it, a fully fit Nathan Ferguson is a borderline premier league quality player. So it would be a yes from me - but only if he really has proved his fitness.

I think Stickers may worked himself well out of favour with his Wimbledon display

If Ferguson is fit then makes sense

Has Ferguson ever been fit though, seems he’s been injured continuously for the last 5 years. Should fit right in then.

And if he can spend time training with us, playing 2 unders games, it's a pretty positive sign, given our injury woes

Agree with this. It would be good for him if he was eligible for a run out tomorrow night.

This appears to be the first time he has completed back to back games playing the full 90 mins since December 2019 and by all accounts played well in 2 different positions. Brogue suggested that if he did so, a deal is already agreed in principle, so may be a straightforward signing.

Also worth noting he wouldn't need to sign by 7pm on the 1st as he is a free agent.

He’d need to sign today to play tomorrow wouldn’t he? My guess is they’ll give him another game or two first

I notice that Ahmed is not mentioned in the talk about centre backs.
Looks like a potential Mbengue replacement to me and I believe he thinks of himself as a centre back playing right back.
Maybe a little early but like to see him play there in one of the cup games.

Seems unlikely seeing as his play has been significantly weaker in defence compared to getting forward.

I wouldn’t play him there now certainly but at 17 there is a hell of a lot of development left to do. Could well end up there in a few years
