Not quite sure how rule 3.1 (which is what Selles was done under) has to do with kicking the ball away. Was NH behaving improperly towards the officials before kicking the ball away?

FA Rule E3.1 states:

"A Participant shall at all times act in the best interests of the game and shall not act in any manner which is improper or brings the game into disrepute or use any one, or a combination of, violent conduct, serious foul play, threatening, abusive, indecent or insulting words or behaviour."

Key Elements of Rule E3.1

Best Interests of the Game: Participants must prioritize the integrity and reputation of football in all their actions.
Improper Conduct: Any behavior that is deemed improper or that could damage the game's reputation is prohibited.
Types of Misconduct: The rule explicitly mentions various forms of misconduct, including:
Violent Conduct: Any physical aggression towards others.
Serious Foul Play: Actions that are dangerous or reckless during play.
Threatening, Abusive, Indecent, or Insulting Words or Behavior: This includes any form of verbal abuse or inappropriate comments.

I know but I don’t see how kicking the ball away falls under any of the elements listed. When players do it they get yellow cards.

Not sure if it's actually a different rule, but they suggested on the commentary (courtesy of someone tweeting in) that it was technically for delaying the restart.

I would say that's covered by any behaviour that is improper.

No issue with the rule, think it was a bit harsh on Hunt when the ball is played straight into him and a player is running into his technical area.

A related rule that tickles me is that if dissent comes from the bench, the referee cannot identify who actually said it, and no-one comes forward, they have to book the manager.
I wonder if that's ever happened?

That makes sense. Get your staff in order or take the consequences.

What happens if the manager has already been sent off?

Great performance, hanging on a bit at the end, but first win, first clean sheet.

Great press, great energy and pace. Lots of chances. Just need to start converting a few more.

Stick to being told inside info, you're not great at the match analysis.

Rings a bell, think it happened in a Championship game last season, can’t remember which though.
