Winston Biscuit Scotland 1st choice goalkeeper, Craig Gordon, was out injured, so they used Angus Gunn but he had to go off injured after 6 minutes, their 3rd choice keeper had injured himself in the warm up, the assumed next 2 choices, Liam Kelly and Zander Clarke were both unavailable through injury, so Cieran Slicker was the man to come on and play at the weekend against Iceland

Slicker is the Ipswich reserve keeper and played just 9 minutes of football this season in the FA Cup

And was made a scapegoat for the defeat to Iceland so no doubt that’s the end of his international career

Winston Biscuit If Colombia and Venezuela both win tonight then South American qualifying could be pretty interesting for the final 3 games

and South American qualifying appears to not be very interesting, with the 6 automatic spots as good as done. Only the 1 play off spot left after that. Venezuela currently sit in that place, 1 point ahead of Bolivia. Venezuela have to play Argentina and Colombia, while Bolivia have to play Colombia and Brazil. I wouldn't rule out Bolivia getting a result against Brazil and taking that play off spot as Bolivia have the altitude factor and not too many teams go to La Paz and get a result.

WTF happened to Chile. Got into the knockouts in 2010 & 2014. Haven't qualified since and are bottom of the qualifying table now with 2 wins from 16 games

Scotland creating some good chances against the Danes. Sadly for them they have Dykes and Adams up front.

A good 0-0 draw for us, although I'm a bit disappointed we didn't show a little more ambition as Denmark really looked there for the taking. Still think Greece are the strongest side in the group, but gives us a serious shot at finishing second and reaching the play-offs.

Florian who?

No team should want to concede a free kick in range to Liverpool this season.

Ghana, Algeria, Morocco and Egypt most likely to confirm their qualification next time round. If you actually want to see different African qualifiers rather than all the usual faces, then look to the runners up playoffs where the likes Gabon and Tanzania are riding high.

Craziness in Hungary last night, hosting Israel's home games, Italy edging a nine goal thriller. Israel got two late goals to make it 4-4, only for Sandro Tonali to hit an injury time winner.

Yes - although DR Congo top Group B by a point from Senegal, with three games to go. They host the Lions tonight and a win would see them needing just two points from their last two games to make their first World Cup.

Cape Verde in exactly the same position, they lead Group D by a point from Cameroon, and play them tonight. A win and they are virtually certain to play in the World Cup for the first time, as one of their two remaining games is at home to group minnows Eswatini.

Lots of big games tonight - Gabon host Ivory Coast in Group F and a win would take them top of that group, above their visitors, with two games to go. That said - Ivory Coast haven't conceded a goal yet in the qualifying competition, through seven matches.

Also, the runners-up playoff most likely won't provide an extra African team - winners of the playoff (best four group runners-up) enter the inter-confederation playoff, where they'd have to get past an Asian/South American team to qualify.

Good for Cape Verde, nice to see them back after not reaching the forthcoming 2025-26 African Cup of Nations.
