Sutekh
The Cap Sheff Wed filed for administration then.

So that’s an immediate 12 point deduction then. Looking forward to the return Hillsborough for a game next season.

As long as we stay up

Elm Park Kid Wednesday have gone into administration.

That's got to be good news for them doesn’t it? Takes it all out of Chanserai's hands.

Short term a lot of pain, but the prospect of a brighter future under someone else.

No...administration is not a good place. The priorities of the administrators are the creditors and this will be a very long road back, this won't just be a quick visit to league one next year and back to normal.

Look at previous clubs where this has happened.

At this rate this league will be a quarter Yorkshire next season, maybe more.

What, like Leicester?

It's better than an owner who is destroying the club, or going out of business entirely.

Recent clubs? Derby have done ok. Wigan not awful. Bolton, brief trip to L2 then back in L1. They were heading into L1 before administration already.

Add Portsmouth to the list, even if it took employees not being paid in full, supporters monies, players playing unpaid, latterly an American businessman and some land that Tescos bought.

Wednesday will be ok….large and loyal support, lots of up-selling of associated branded goods.
For us and for many teams like us, it’ll be our two ‘cup-finals’ next season (although tbf, I can see them outpointing the -12 deduction going forward now)

Don't they have EFL charges outstanding for failing to pay players? There could be another 6 deducted.

Just get all the pain done this season if possible, and try to enjoy the wins when they come.

Yeah, I'd expect some punishment for that as well, this season is oxf*rd and they are 100% relegated.

You've not mentioned the clubs that have gone down and never come back.

Yes of course its better being in the National League than having the likes of Dai or Chaniri around but that's not what I said.

Bolton & Wigan have not made it back to where they were

Leicester have benefited from being between EFL and Prem for years

But then again you're always right even when you're wrong. Bore off.

Administration in itself is a mixed thing. You only go into administration if your owner has got you into a real mess, at which point it will get rid of them but at great cost.

What differentiates the good and bad examples of what follows is who bought them next. It's that simple. I think Portsmouth had several bad owners in succession, whereas Leicester were rescued by Lineker and his pals, stabilised and sold to the Thais.

Yeah, exactly.

Administration is a point of pain leading to a new beginning after a period of shitness (or very rarely oblivion), which is what I said. Looking towards a brighter future doesn't mean you'll get it.

Of course there are examples where things don’t go well after. Just as there are examples where it does

I would imagine Wednesday are about as well insulated against it as you can get. Even if you tear it all down to a bunch of academy guys and not a lot else they’ve got a significant baseline of support and attendance that have already proven that they’ll show at this level, well beyond what we could hope for, that’s surely got to keep them above National league level?

It’ll certainly be a rough couple of years but I reckon they’re the old cliche of ‘too big to fail’.

Came home from Doncaster match, which I didn’t enjoy, to watch on TV our old friends and rivals from down the M4 tear the reigning champions apart in front of an ecstatic full house. Jealous ? You bet. May 2002 a long long time ago. Sobs.

Yes it`s sick isn`t it, them Brighton and Bournemouth used to be regular rivals in the EFL, look at what can happen with a proper management structure.
We had the chance with our 2006 team but instead of building we let it go.

Been there, done that. Reading 3-1 Liverpool, Dec 2007. We’ll be back and no doubt Brentford shall return at some point too.

Never had the money needed in the PL. first time JM just wouldn’t sanction what he saw as the ridiculous wages necessary (rightly, given he didn’t have the money) and SC was too loyal to look for the bargains.. The second time round the club had a little boy owning the club who only had a bit of pocket money and his dad wouldn’t give him a bit more to let him play with the big boys.

All been great timing so far
