Another great result from the U16s. Anyone we might see in the older age groups before long?

On Monday 1st December the U 21’s are away to Bournemouth in the PL Cup. Fixture has been down to be played at the Vitality stadium and RFC are still saying that, however the Bournemouth website shows that the match has been switched to Snow’s stadium the home of AFC Totton which is a shame because i have never been to the Vitality stadium and was going to watch this match- might still go to Totton :)

In the FA Youth Cup, we saw at least 3 of the U16s - the Ntege twins and Adjei. I thought Adjei was a massive improvement over St Louis at right-back, even though I'm sure he's really a forward. Both twins on the wing looked sharp and one scored.

It's kind of difficult to comment on players that you've never seen play. However....

Along with Adjei, there were three others in the England U15 training camp last season - defenders Kenaya Kaninda and Samson Omoregie, plus goalkeeper Luca Hollidge. So they must have something extra about them. Another player who we might see sooner is centre-forward Milo Barbieri, because he scores goals.

Of course, what this really means is not that we will see them, but that we will sell them to Man City or Spurs next summer.

And some U14 news - in the Premier League Albert Phelan Cup South, we beat Bournemouth 2-0 last weekend. This is at group stage - last season it was 4 groups of 4, followed by quarter-finals, but I don't know any other information about this season yet.

Some people might be interested in the current standings of the PL International cup. Sadly Reading failed to qualify for this seasons competition by finishing outside the top 16 in last seasons PL 2 table.
The comp has 16 PL 2 teams and 16 foreign U 21 teams in 4 groups of 8. ( 4 PL 2 and 4 foreign in each group)
All matches are played in England and each PL 2 team plays against the foreign teams in their group( 4 matches)
Matches have been played since August and the current scores on the doors is.
Pl 2 team wins 6
Draws 3
Foreign team wins 10
Still 45 matches to be played in the groups before the end of January 2026.

You haven't missed much by not going to the Vitality Stadium.
I played against Totton many years ago -they have always been strong at their level without looking like permanently making the step higher but it is a well run club.

It is one of those that often seem to have ex-Saints youngsters in their side.

[Ruffles anorak :D ]...not sure which level you believe they ought to be at? : - they are now handily placed (4th) at STEP02
(beat Maidenhead 2-1 last night in the National South)

- they have come a long way from Vase Runners-up in 06-07 - was the year the 'new' Wembley opened - they lost there in the final to Truro
- I believe it may have been the first Senior-side game played there too.
-on the same day we had our own 'nearly moment' under Sir Steve at Blackburn. 8)

They moved to the Testwood Stadium ('Snows') in 2011 - been there a couple of times - saw them play Yate (I think) incl. Michael Meaker. - thought it was a bit cramped for a new-build especially down the sides - large bar though
- much preferred the 'little brothers' ground right behind it :) .

- Totton & Eling (fka BAT Sports) moved into a purpose built (much) smaller adjacent ground at the same time - known as Little Testwood (Miller Park) .
I didn't know the 'A' in 'AFC' stood for Amalgamated? :?
They (AFC) have been regarded more recently as big spenders, during their rise out of the Wessex and thru the Southern Leagues.
Still got ex-Royals Scott Rendell and Craig Tanner in their first team squad for this season had Charlie Austin last term (now at Basingstoke) - not checked for any others but they do have Jay Emmanuel-Thomas listed.

Yes, even I read the other day that the fans are no longer going to be paying his wages.

Charlie Austin left Basingstoke at the weekend. Only played 4 games for them in the end, scoring 1 goal.
