Coca-deal signed

by Greatwesternline » 07 Nov 2025 15:50

Reading FC have announced a long-term partnership with Coca-Cola.

The football club has revealed a new partnership with Coca-Cola Europacific Partners who join as the club’s official soft drinks partner.

Through this collaboration Coca-Cola’s varied beverage range—including Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Diet Coke, Fanta, and Sprite—will be available throughout the Select Car Leasing Stadium’s concourse and hospitality areas.

Here was me thinking RFC might be announcing a big sponsorship deal with naming rights on stadium and shirt sponsorship for the foreseeable.

But no, it's to announce the stadium will serve coca-cola.

This has been the headline story on the official site for 3 hours now, on the day after we actually won a match. Hype machine works better than the recruitment team that's for sure

So we're going from selling Coca-Cola to selling... Coca-Cola?

I can't help but let the excitement bubble over. I hope nobody loses their bottle and that this one doesn't fizz out to nothing. Would be a shame to see this one pop.

Prefer Pepsi but it's better than Rola-Cola

I think this is good, as it means we've managed to get Coca Cola to pay for 'exclusivity' within the ground when they arguably already had it. We still need to be making these kinds of commercial deals so I think it's good. The next target should be trying to get a sleeve sponsor but I don't know how feasible it is with the other sponsors we already have.

Great mention of Colin Kazim-Richards too. I remember sort of following his career after that and he moved to Turkey, where he had 'Kazim-Kazim' on his shirt. They must have been confused by the idea of someone called Colin

They seem to be sponsoring the fanzone, so perhaps there’ll be some more improvements coming in the next few months.

Perhaps a larger covered area over the road would make it more viable in the winter months?

Reading his Wikipedia article, ‘Kazim’ was supposed to be his middle name, but it got registered wrong.

Can’t believe he was a regular in a Turkey side which made the semis of Euro 2008! Then again Chris Gunter reached the Euro 2016 semis with Wales…

Appears he was signed by Brighton due to one of their fans winning a Coca-Cola competition - so was nicknamed the ‘Coca-Cola Kid’ for a while.
