Maybe we can wave our sympathetic condolences as we hopefully go past them in the second half of the season.

Tbf, last year Stockport lost Louie Barry in January and it didn't slow them down. Huddersfield are a good team and I still expect them to be up there.

Cardiff City given a transfer embargo by EFL for non-submission of 24/25 accounts by the 31 December deadline. This means Cardiff cannot sign any players during the current window until they send in the figures.

So have Reading done theirs yet then given Cardiff haven’t and have been accordingly done? If they haven’t then the club must presumably have satisfied the FL over it in some way :?

Spoke too soon, Stockport got themselves a 96th minute winner. Table amended directly above. Will keep Reading 4 points off 6th whatever Bolton do later.

With games in hand, we almost have the ability to go 6th place, not something that seemed realistic a few weeks ago.

Bolton 1-0 down at ht

If that result stays, it’s really squeezed up that 5-10th positions. Huddersfield and Bolton look pretty vulnerable

To Peterborough as well, who are closing in on the play-offs themselves.

If Peterborough score another 6 goals without conceding they’ll move up to 9th

A few weeks ago, suggesting that it was still early days got pelters.

We were never that bad. Always good odds on a strong second half to season.

IIRC, Noel Hunt said (was it in an interview after he got sacked?) he expected us to pick up around December and have a strong second half of the season. We were matching most sides we played under Hunt, even if the standard of football wasn't amazing.

Still think we have a weaker strongest XI than last season though, but we have a run of very winnable games coming up. Depending on transfers, there's a very real prospect of us reaching the play-offs now.

Orient 1-1 Cardiff
Peterborough 3-1 Bolton

Revised table:

Pos - Team - P-W-D-L> GD - Pts
1 - Cardiff - 25-16-4-5 > 18 - 52
2 - Lincoln - 25-14-6-5 > 14 - 48
3 - Bradford - 24-13-7-4 > 9 - 46
4 - Stockport - 25-12-6-7 > 4 - 42
5 - Huddersfield - 26-11-6-9 >10 - 39
6 - Bolton - 24-10-9-5 > 7 -39
7 - Luton - 25 - 11-5-9 > 5 - 38
8 - Stevenage - 23 - 10-7-6 > 7 -37
9 - Reading - 24-9-8-7 > 4 -35
10 - Peterborough - 25 -11-2-12 > -1 -35

Reading have games in hand (Wigan and Mansfield away) on both Stockport and Huddersfield so keeping pace with those two should prove to be very useful if those games can be turned into 6 points.

Next week’s L1 fixtures:

Barnsley v Blackpool
Bradford City v Cardiff City - 12.30pm
Burton Albion v Huddersfield Town
Exeter City v Stevenage
Leyton Orient v Reading
Luton Town v Lincoln City
Mansfield Town v Port Vale
Northampton Town v Wycombe Wanderers
Peterborough United v Plymouth Argyle
Stockport County v Rotherham United
Wigan Athletic v Bolton Wanderers - 12.30pm
Wimbledon v Doncaster Rovers
