From 2028, Afcon will be held every four years: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/ar ... jnx6x4281o

A new African Nations League will also be created and be played in the standard September/October international window from 2029.

I've had a few quid on Brahim Diaz to be top scorer - 14/1. He's got 9 goals in 16 games since switching to Morocco.

This came in 8) despite him missing a panenka in the 24th minute of injury time  to win the tournament. They went on to lose 1-0 AET.

Best was the commentator asking if he'd done it on purpose cos it was such a soft penalty to give. Ignoring the fact that Brahin was at that point in tears and he was he one who had fallen over to try and con a penalty and had been going mental at the ref and assistant for not giving it before VAR stepped in.
Supreme shithousing taking players off the pitch for 10 mins for him to have to think about it for that long. But surely you'd just twat it as hard as you could even if you were going straight down the middle.

Looked to me like Morocco were supposed to win that tournament.

But cheaters sometimes don’t win. WTF was all that with the towels?

It was a penalty imo. The controversy is the disallowed goal for Senegal just before.

I don't understand why more isn't being made of this.

Ball boys (or were they subs?) literally dragging the reserve keeper along the ground trying to take the towel away and then chasing him round the perimeter of the pitch.

Nuts.

I think having disallowed the Senegal goal for not a foul he had to give the penalty because there was more contact. Not sure either were fouls. Ref was piss weak at trying to get control of the situation.

Good punting Pepe and did I hear that he was also the player of the tournament?
Don't be in a hurry to have a bet on anybody in the World Cup because who knows how many teams might boycott the competition.

The feeling in Europe at the moment is very, very anti all things USA/Trump.

Would say it was a good tournament overall.

Serious concerns after the final though: the officiating/VAR decisions; the security issues (which will have implications for Morocco's World Cup matches in 2030); potential corruption; players walking off the pitch; etc.

I think Mane was player of the tournament.

If no one boycotted Qatar, I highly doubt anyone will boycott USA.
