Kadan Young

by Clyde1998 » 02 Feb 2026 19:15

Reading Sign Kadan Young [Reading FC] Kadan Arrives On Loan.

Reading Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of Kadan Young, joining on loan from Aston Villa until the end of the season.

A 20-year-old winger who has played for England youth age groups, Young has scored three goals in four PL2 matches so far this season and picked up an assist in Villa’s 3-2 victory over Red Bull Salzburg in the UEFA Europa League last week.

Young has first team experience on loan in Belgium with Royal Antwerp and has three first-team appearances for his parent club.

Pacy, tricky and direct, Kadan will strengthen the Royals for the remainder of the season.

Manager Leam Richardson commented: “Kadan is an exciting young wide player who gives us added depth and real pace in the wide areas. He’s someone with excellent character, a strong work ethic, and plenty of potential, and we’re looking forward to working with him during his time with us.”

Subject to ratification by the football authorities, Kadan is eligible to make his Royals debut on Saturday at AFC Wimbledon.

Played for Villa last week in the Europa League and assisted the winning goal v Red Bull Salzburg. Think I’ll check the highlights out.

Trust he’ll offer what I think we all thought Doyle would be offering.

From my Villa supporting mate

I like him. Set one up in our Europa league win the other night. Think he went on loan to Antwerp last year as well. He's dynamic and held in high regard by Emery.

DK out for rest of season, right?

Anyway, he did a solid job in the European game on Thursday - highlights reel at end of link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qj7ljf2U9ik

Strong, tidy on the ball, got an eye for taking players on.

Sounds like the attributes I’d be looking for - only seems to have played a handful of non academy games so be a step up

Who's to say he's any better? Time will tell I suppose, seems we could end up with a surplus of loan players we don't want

Looks okay and will be interesting to see how he does in a much more physical division; the youth game in question appears to be against Birmingham - who are one of the weakest Category One sides this season.

In the European game, the ball did go backwards a lot; I wonder how much of the assist was luck than judgement, as he doesn't appear to look up before crossing.

Seems pace is his main attribute, so seems to be a direct replacement for Kyerewaa.

Don't expect him to hit the ground running like Lisbie would've done, but hopefully it works out for us and it's a very low risk situation for us.

No idea how good he is, but hope people will be patient with him. A player who has barely played professionally won’t be putting in even 7 out of 10 performances every week. Hopefully Daniel K and Williams will be back before too long.

Happy with this signing, although it’s a shame we don’t have anyone in our own academy who can step up.

He looks to be quick, direct and physically strong. Obviously, not the finished article, but he wouldn’t be coming to us if he was.

No idea if he'll be any good but refreshing to see that the club had a back up plan in the situation that Lisbie fell through. Also good to see that that back up plan was a loan so that that position in the squad can be assessed properly when DK is fit again this summer.

Yes, could loan or sell players into non league.

Could also still sign free agents.

The good thing is, unlike perm signings, they cost a lot less and they disappear at the end of the season.

I can't say the new ownership is wowing me with it's financial acumen and transfer strategy, and it all seems a bit of a futile gamble to win the POs this season. But we'll see.

Assuming they were all made available, slightly disappointing we couldn’t find league loans for Camara, Stickland, Rushesha, Abrefa(?) or any of the u21s

I do get the feeling there’ll be quite a clear out in the summer

Seems pretty pragmatic to me. Lisbie looks a good young prospect with a potentially decent sell-on value if he fulfils his promise. It’s also great to see that we had a backup plan when the deal broke down. Obviously it’s a position we’re very weak in, so getting a player like him through the door makes sense. Hopefully it gives us enough to avoid being sucked into the relegation vortex, rather than chasing the pipe dream of the playoffs this season.

We’ve also kept back the money we were going to spend on Lisbie for the summer, or to build a war chest for other targets.

I would say all of those will go either permanently or if they remain under contract, on a season long loan.

Rushesha can only have been offered a deal last summer due to concerns with if we would have any cover but frankly has been a waste of time for all parties (from a footballing perspective).

Happy with this.
I didn't watch much of that Villa game but if he is half as good as the young lad who came on and scored the winner he'll do.

I can't see why there would be an issue about him being up and running compared with Lisbie as another poster suggested.
Playing in front of a big crowd in a Europa League game is surely as good an experience as turning out for Colchester in front of 3 or 4 thousand people against 4th division opposition?

What I like is that he sounds like a proper winger with some pace and Villa has done very well with it's youth teams in recent years.
Having been under Emery for a while I would guess that he has been well coached and will be less of an erratic performer than Danny K.

Am very much looking forward to seeing him line -up in the hoops (or whatever kit we have for his debut).

Had never heard of him, have never seen him play, only going by reports.

But I think...... [bla bla bla ]
