yeah, we’re pretty much done, Stevenage, Luton and Plymouth all winning
Rather see Swindon come up via the play-offs, Reading Oxford and Swindon in the same league, what`s not to like about that?Clyde1998 wrote: ↑22 Apr 2026 00:06 Looks like we'll be having more closer matches next season.
Based on the teams currently occupying the promotion/relegation spots (and based on the highest finishing team wins the play-offs), our average travel distance will drop by about 48 miles per match (round trip) or about an hour of travel time.
Championship: Oxford; Leicester; and Sheff Wed replacing Lincoln; Cardiff; and Bolton.
League Two: Bromley; Milton Keynes; Cambridge; and Salford replacing Exeter; Rotherham; Port Vale; and Northampton.
One interesting fact that has come out from last night is Leicester have already borrowed against their last Premier League parachute payment so no extra new money next season.....may also be hard to shift on high earning players too....
Isn't that what we did when it started going to shit under AZ?Mid Sussex Royal wrote: ↑22 Apr 2026 09:01One interesting fact that has come out from last night is Leicester have already borrowed against their last Premier League parachute payment so no extra new money next season.....may also be hard to shift on high earning players too....
I don't think Oxford really care about us and vice versa, there was zero spice in our two fixtures against each other in League One, Swindon however seem to have a bit of a dislike since they were up for starting a scrap after that EFL Trophy match.windermereROYAL wrote: ↑22 Apr 2026 08:27Rather see Swindon come up via the play-offs, Reading Oxford and Swindon in the same league, what`s not to like about that?Clyde1998 wrote: ↑22 Apr 2026 00:06 Looks like we'll be having more closer matches next season.

All 4 games against them back in the 70s and 80s had plenty of spice about them.tidus_mi2 wrote: ↑22 Apr 2026 10:07I don't think Oxford really care about us and vice versa, there was zero spice in our two fixtures against each other in League One, Swindon however seem to have a bit of a dislike since they were up for starting a scrap after that EFL Trophy match.windermereROYAL wrote: ↑22 Apr 2026 08:27Rather see Swindon come up via the play-offs, Reading Oxford and Swindon in the same league, what`s not to like about that?Clyde1998 wrote: ↑22 Apr 2026 00:06 Looks like we'll be having more closer matches next season.

Leicester will be seriously financially in the s**t next season - much more so than Luton - as they've got players on ridiculously high wages, whereas Luton always gambled on the fact that their stay in the Prem was likely to be shortlived. It will be interesting to watch and see what happens with them and Sheffield Wednesday next season - both though have a very large and loyal fanbase so will have high gate receipts.tidus_mi2 wrote: ↑22 Apr 2026 10:06Isn't that what we did when it started going to shit under AZ?Mid Sussex Royal wrote: ↑22 Apr 2026 09:01One interesting fact that has come out from last night is Leicester have already borrowed against their last Premier League parachute payment so no extra new money next season.....may also be hard to shift on high earning players too....

Having been first relegated in 2023 you'd have thought they'd have learnt their lesson and made sure relegation clauses were in all contracts now.Brum Royal wrote: ↑22 Apr 2026 11:37 There's a post floating round Facebook showing Leicester's reported weekly wage bill:

Yes we did similar in latter days of AZ and soon after we had to sell Alf for peanuts to pay a tax bill.tidus_mi2 wrote: ↑22 Apr 2026 10:06Isn't that what we did when it started going to shit under AZ?Mid Sussex Royal wrote: ↑22 Apr 2026 09:01One interesting fact that has come out from last night is Leicester have already borrowed against their last Premier League parachute payment so no extra new money next season.....may also be hard to shift on high earning players too....
