Flamengo's match in the Copa Libertadores away at Independiente Medellin of Colombia was abandoned last night due to fan violence. seats were being ripped up and thrown on the pitch, fireworks shot onto the pitch at players and staff, then fans decided to try and set their own stadium on fire so the stadium had to be evacuated

Seems harsh, but rules are rules I guess. Maybe a temporary ban for a repeat offender? Let's hope not! But the mods would just be doing their job, so couldn't blame them.

Not the league as such but an interesting* development for televised football over here.

RTL (essentially Germany's ITV) has had it's buy-out of Sky approved - meaning that one of the biggest free-to-air broadcasters will own a lot of Bundesliga rights. The CEO has already confirmed they intend to look at having at least 1 Bundesliga game per round live on free-to-air TV. Every single German Cup game will also be made available for free.

Am sure the number of games will change but an interesting shift back to more games being available to the viewing public easily.

AC Milan could have all but wrapped up a Champions League spot in Serie A yesterday, but they lost at home to Atalanta and now there are 2 games left with themselves, Roma & Como all fighting for 4th place, with Juventus in 3rd also only 1 point ahead

Milan do have 2 easy fixtures remaining, but its Milan, and they love messing up

Germany really do seem to do things well in some ways - like the football tickets, and these free to air games. I swear it just shows even more evidence how ripped off we are in the UK. If there is a way to absolutely rinse the public, they'll do it for sure

Donyell Malen went on loan from Villa to Roma in mid January, 4 months on and he is level on goals with the 2nd top scorer in Serie A.

if results go well over the next few days then there could be the final day to end all final days in 10 days time

That golden era of C4's Football Italia when it seemed like all the best players in the world were in Serie A feels a very, very long time ago now.

The relegation battle in the Bundesliga is heading into an epic final day.

As it stands

16 - Wolfsburg 26
17 - Heidenheim 26
18 - St Pauli 26

The bottom 2 go down, 3rd from bottom enter the relegation play-off against the team finishing 3rd in the 2. Bundesliga.

In a wonderful turn of events the final day will see St Pauli host Wolfsburg. (Heidenheim host mid-table Mainz)

Heidenheim and St Pauli also have the same GD so we could be in a situation where any of the 3 teams could finish in any of those 3 positions. A win for either Heidenheim or St Pauli may not be enough if the other team wins by more. Wolfsburgs GD is only 3 better than Heidenheim, so a win may not even be enough for Wolfsburg if Heidenheim win by 3 more goals than them.

The fun doesn't stop there as it is just as tight for promotion from the 2. Bundesliga. Schalke are already Champions but it is a 3 way race for 2nd/play-off spot.

2 - Elversberg 59
3 - Hannover 59
4 - Paderborn 59

Elversberg will be massive favourites, as they host bottom club (and already relegated) Preussen Münster, to earn an historic promotion to the Bundesliga. This is only their 3rd ever season in the 2. Bundesliga and as the town only has 13,000 inhabitants would make them the smallest club ever to reach the top flight in Germany

Great story, Elversberg is in the Saarland somewhere I think. Didn’t they make the PO’s last year too?

PSG win Ligue 1

Ousmane Dembele wins Ligue 1 player of the season, even though he started just 9 games

Last weekend Lens had 16 year old schoolboy Mezian Mesloub come on for his debut with 12 minutes to go. Apparently a much hyped youngster that they have very high hopes of. Anyway, a win would secure their place in the Champions League next season. Jump to 3:30 to see how he debut went

£30M transfer, £200,000 a week, 9 year contract, immediately loaned out to a sister club in the Belgian 2nd tier, never heard of again.

La Liga is mental

Technically anyone from 8th-19th can still get relegated, with 2 games to go

Watching the Rome derby on TNT as the race for 4th place is quite exciting.

With 10 minutes to go its Juventus who are blowing it, with Milan, Roma and Como all winning

Elversberg promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time ever. They were in the 4th tier 4 seasons ago.

Nantes Vs Toulouse abandoned after Nantes fans invade the pitch to try and get to the owners in quite a violent fashion

Image

what's sad is that with them in a mess this season and facing relegation, 73 year old club legend Vahid Halilhodzic came out of retirement in March to try and help them stay up. He was visibly distressed at the Nantes fans storming the pitch and had to be taken away by security as he was trying to confront them

Nice Vs Metz also halted twice due to pitch invasions as Nice drop into the relegation play off (partly thanks to Danny Loaders Auxerre winning their last 3 matches)
