Can't remember the block but think Ian's generally spot on tbf. Honestly shocked at all the praise he's getting, and i'm certainly not anti-Gunter!

2nd half I remember think before we scored he gave the ball away carelessly which led to a Sheffield Weds break with him out of position. I'll admit he played fairly well in the latter part of the game, but I actually thought he was pretty poor up until then.

If you seriously can't remember the block then I think that puts all other comment from you in the 'ignore' box. It was such a significant moment in the game that anyone who missed it clearly wasn't concentrating.

Let's be clear, attacker has open goal to shoot at. No chance he will miss. Goalkeeper is wrong footed. Gunter throws himself at the ball and deflects said shot over the bar. It was a match saver. Yet you can't remember it?

Gunter was clear contender for MoM. Anyone who can't see that is simply prejudiced against him.

Have now seen the block, think at the time was more just relieved it went over as thought it was going in. It was down the far end from me so didn't realise it was Gunter who blocked it. All seemed to happen quite quickly. Definitely was a great block.
I'll admit was harsh on Gunter earlier, he had a decent game, but he wasn't close to being MOTM for me, he wasn't even our best defender IMO.

Certainly not prejudiced against him, was only saying before the game how I couldn't understand all the stick he gets. I did think of this thread whilst watching the game though which maybe didn't help.

Main reason for that was he was playing behind Williams in the first half, so had fcuk all options.

Well for sure Williams is no right mid, and you're right he wasn't in the position that GMac would have been in (and HRK was later) so that did limit CG's options. But GC and AF did seem to slow things down incredibly yesterday - just felt too defensive and negative.

I Like Ferdinand but I think he was responsible for losing his man for their goal. Having said that he has saved us on many occasion.

Him and Gunter appeared to mark each other, but I'd give Gunter the benefit of the doubt and assume he had to stay free to watch the back stick, as the fullback, rather than track Hooper's drop back. It's probably a bit harsh on Ferdie though as, iirc, the ball took a touch from someone to deflect it back to Hooper and I think Ferdinand may have been in the right spot to clear if there'd been no touch.

If Cooper hadn't passed it to them when we were in comfortable possession then Ferdinand, and everyone else for that matter, wouldn't have been having to chase back.

Not entirely Cooper's fault because no one was moving for him so he resorted to trying to force a pass rather than having the patience that comes with a bit of experience. He'll learn and the best way for him to do that is beside Ferdinand.

Unnecessary use of the word 'nearly' there.
