Also one less player we need to bring in.From Despair To Where? wrote:I'm actually pleased that Aluko had a good game. Rather he spend the next 10 months putting in a shift and contributing than sitting on his arse, collecting his money.
I would have no issue with that if we finally get the Aluko we thought we were getting when we bought him.windermereROYAL wrote:So if Aluko performs like that for the rest of the season do you offer him a new contract?![]()

Would most certainly be a sizable pay cut. Must be one of the top earners at the club. May have caused rancor in the past.windermereROYAL wrote:So if Aluko performs like that for the rest of the season do you offer him a new contract?![]()

Quite a performance, makes you wonder why the changeCountryRoyal wrote:Aluko’s was one of the better performances of any Reading player in a while. Barely put a foot wrong, had immense awareness all game and his deliveries were very very good. Worked tirelessly defensively too. I’d imagine this was the Aluko we thought we were buying.

Pity it`s taken him 3 years to turn up.CountryRoyal wrote: I’d imagine this was the Aluko we thought we were buying.

Squad of 26/27/28 last year couldn’t have helpedAscotexgunner wrote:The small squad makes a massive difference. I think that has also helped tremendously. No separate cliques and way more easier to identify problems. Not rotating players is big plus. Previous managers have fallen foul of this.
It actually means that youngsters have a chance to shine and feel wanted and given a chance to play.
5 academy players today on at once. Never would have happened under previous regimes.
One last thing. I was harsh on John o Shea back end of last season. Thought he was clueless looking at defence and end of season performances. I was completely wrong. Paunovic has helped him clearly and he also looks to be doing the biz. Defence looks such a solid unit.
I’d like a right back, a left back and a wide player. I don’t think we need another CDM. We can use one of our centre backs if need be. We need to start using our existing squad more. No need to loan out McIntyre or Holmes. They can play their part as and when needed. From Despair To Where? wrote:Losing 10 players has made the squad more tight knit and competative and the academy players are there on merit.
We still need another RB but Aluko's renaissance has made a wide player less of a need in the short term. Add a RB and the squad is more than capable of seeing us through to January.
Yes but only a 1 year rolling contract, if that’s how he plays when in the final year of his dealwindermereROYAL wrote:So if Aluko performs like that for the rest of the season do you offer him a new contract?![]()
