I like we’ve kept the majority and not had a big clear out. Hopefully the ones offered contracts will stay

Borgnis looked decent but he was on the older side so no real suprise. Ryan is a suprise with his injury record

Will be interesting to see who gets a chance from the U21s. One criticism of Richardson is that he hasn't used the academy enough, but looking at the ones retained I don't think any of them are ready to do much more than cup games and spots 20 - 25 in the league squad. Loans may be better options for them.

Agree, Hound.

We all expected a fallow year in terms of academy breakthroughs this season. This hints that it remains a key part of the strategy.

I have been saying for months that the U 21 captain Philip Duah is a real prospect. He’s only 19 and hopefully will be given an opportunity early next season.

If he is a real prospect then you’d think the club would be talking to him already about a new deal rather than find he gets nicked for next to nothing this time next year.

I wonder what will happen to A Ahmed ... he looked a real prospect at the beginning of the season and then totally fell away - was probably thrown in at the deep end a bit too much by N Hunt, and had others in front of him.

Sorry to see Basil Tuma going; I thought he looked good from the times I saw him. Clearly failed to kick on.

He just looked too small and although quick didn't seem to have much awareness of what was happening around him, albeit based on only seeing him play bit parts now and then.

Not at 19. We could offer him £100k a week if we thought he was worth it. I think < 17 is where it's more tightly controlled.

Cheers. Had a look, obviously the change is 17/18.

At 18 a friend of a friend's son had a contract at £50,000 per week.
You can guess which club-yes the one in South West London and not Fulham.
He played a couple of League Cup games, had a few loans, including Russia, but 5 years or so later I don't know here he has ended up.

No because I can't remember his surname and am not too fussed to find out.

Well, I was curious and had a look at 18 year olds they had on the books ~5 years ago and there was a kid, Tino Anjorin, who matches the description of having several loan spells, including Russia.

Top marks tidus.
Yes, that's the lad who even went on loan to Pompey.
A player in the Bellingham mould but obviously hasn't turned out to be quite so good.

I just checked him out and he is playing in Serie A again but once more loaned out.

He is quite a bright lad apparently-his dad made sure that he got his A levels-and one of the first things he did on signing that first contract was to take a dozen or so mates from school on a foreign holiday and paid for everybody.
