As seems always the case with Bracknell, Adam has been with them previously in a number of roles. He has also managed Sandhurst and Holyport. However last season he got Yateley promoted to step 5 via the play offs and got them into the FACup so at least there is some merit to the appointment.

Not sure why Sean Miles and Carl Davies left yesterday as they turned Bracknell round from what seemed to be relegation certainties to safe mid table obscurity and had apparently renewed their deals last season. Interestingly Bracknell have cancelled their preseason friendly with Worthing on Saturday so I wonder what’s going on over there.

And here are the opening day fixtures for the Southern League:

Southern League Premier Division Central

Anstey Nomads v Leiston
Bury Town v Halesowen Town
Kettering Town v Alvechurch
Needham Market v Bromsgrove Sporting
Racing Club Warwick v Peterborough Sports
Real Bedford v Leamington
Redditch United v Leighton Town
Rushall Olympic v Hitchin Town
Stourbridge v Stamford
Worcester City v Stratford Town

Southern League Premier Division South

Basingstoke Town v Evesham United
Berkhamsted v Havant & Waterlooville
Chichester City v Poole Town
Frome Town v Wimborne Town
Gloucester City v Chertsey Town
Hanworth Villa v Taunton Town
Malvern Town v Hanwell Town
Plymouth Parkway v Bracknell Town
Sholing v Bath City
Uxbridge v Chippenham Town
Yate Town v Gosport Borough

Southern League Division One Central

Biggleswade Town v Ware
Potters Bar Town v Hertford Town
Thame United v Royston Town

Southern League Division One South

Bishops Cleeve v Banbury United
Hungerford Town v Tiverton Town
Shaftesbury v Bishop’s Stortford
Weymouth v Dorchester Town

The Premier South looks hard to see past Gloucester, Chippenham and Bath for anyone else getting a look in at promotion.

Think I would add Havant into the promotion mix. A front line if they stay fit of Macallum and Seger should score plenty

Maidenhead Utd played Wolves in a friendly at York road last night. Lost 1-0 before an excellent crowd of 3,226.

Just moved to Flackwell Heath area, so popped along to Wilks Park on a beautiful evening to watch a pre-season friendly between Flackwell Heath v Kidlington. Lovely ground surrounded by trees and one hell of a slope from one touchline to the other. Decided to get a season ticket and will be a regular, Reading games permitting.

I do sadly think Bracknell are probably on the road to basket case and oblivion. There doesn't seem to be any way for the club to get back into the town, and even if a site did somehow turn up, all the money from the land sale is supposedly gone, so they couldn't afford it anyway.

The one thing in their favour is that they have a long rental agreement, but it's hard to see crowds holding up if they are a bottom-half team again.

Well here we go again - new season: plenty of 'new clubs/names' about.
..... posted this PM's 'serious' fixtures (the CCL-1 starting up v.early) - I might have an amble over to Scours later :)
- not entirely convinced the customary end of term backlog in that division due to groundsharing/weather etc will be eased by much -but I s'pose they've made an effort? :?

Sat 25th July
CCL-1
Belstone v Spartans Youth - hosts based S.of Watford returning after a season in the SSM
Bovingdon v Edgware & Kingsbury - hosts here are another transferee over from the SSM - finished 5th in Div 2 (STEP07)
- very tidy little ground with nice facilities - tucked away in leafy Herts between Chesham and Watford outside the Orbital

Brook House v Shepherd's Bush - 'Bush' are a rename/re-badge/merger type club
- they were f.k.a. RBK (Rising Ballers Kensington) - reprieved from relegation last season too
- have moved out of Northwood FC and will be lodging at Beaconsfield

Colliers Wood United v PFC Victoria London
Holmer Green v Molesey
Langley v London Samurai Rovers @ Arbour Pk Slough
Maidenhead Town v Westside @ Burnham - Town promoted from TVPL
Oxhey Jets v Berks County
Spelthorne Sports v Wembley
Sport London e Benfica P-P Staines & Lammas (Middlesex) - some uncertainty building around SLeB - haven't yet secured a formal groundshare
- may well NOT start the season - all early fixtures marked as PP :?
- their own SM presence is decidedly 'ethereal' - they had arranged a g/s for the upcoming season at Wembley, then cancelled the arrangement at very short notice (some comments on Wembley's 'X' )- leaving them 'groundless'
- they are due to 'host' Virginia Water in the Vase on 15th Aug - Harefield was being mooted as a temp hire venue - but it doesn't look promising
- they were at Amersham last term but ended the season playing catch-up fixtures at their oppos grounds.

Woodley United v FC Deportivo Galicia @ Rivermoor (Scours La)
