I can also remember the piss-poor clearly-dubbed-on-later commentary he did for TVS' coverage of the Simod Cup win, not least for calling us "Reading Town Football Club"Sutekh wrote:Recall David covering Reading when he was with TVS/Meridian in the early 90s. RIP.genome wrote:RIP David Bobin
Liverpool were on TV more than anyone else.double d wrote:Kes what point are you actually trying to make?No Fixed Abode wrote:Nope. Nope. There is definitely no media bias towards Liverpool.![]()
You would have thought so. But they aren't quite the media darlings.genome wrote:Thought Tottenham's number would be higher. Seemed like they were on every week.
So basically they had the same coverage as Chelsea other than the extra game on the last day of the season when there's was a game that still had something riding on it.No Fixed Abode wrote:Liverpool were on TV more than anyone else.
Only because their ineptitude against the "also rans" meant that their last game of the season happened to be the key game in the chase for 4th placeNo Fixed Abode wrote:Liverpool were on TV more than anyone else.double d wrote:Kes what point are you actually trying to make?No Fixed Abode wrote:Nope. How do you know Liverpool have more fans?genome wrote:Indeed. Liverpool have more fans = higher TV coverage. That's why Leeds always seem to be on way more than other Championship teams.
I was perplexed why they chose to show the Liv v Boro game on the last day. A clear home win, when Arsenal were at home to Everton. A game more neutrals would have preferred to watch.Sutekh wrote:Only because their ineptitude against the "also rans" meant that their last game of the season happened to be the key game in the chase for 4th placeNo Fixed Abode wrote:Liverpool were on TV more than anyone else.double d wrote:

No - there was something riding on Arsenal v Everton too.BR0B0T wrote:the only game with anything riding on it m9No Fixed Abode wrote:I was perplexed why they chose to show the Liv v Boro game on the last day. Yes they are - which is what I've said. However, there should be increased steps in the prize money to negate the fact that one team is shown more than another.Silver Fox wrote:But the TV audiences are higher for their games than for Spurs games because they're better supported, as proven by the number of times you discover another Liverpool fan on here
Bearing in mind Liverpool's dire record at home to the lesser sides it was far from being a definite-if they had won all of those "definites" they would have been champions rather than just the best when playing the best.No Fixed Abode wrote:But given a home win for Liverpool was a definite.......if it hadn't been a slightly higher calibre of team Liverpool were playing on the last day I would say fair enough.
I get that it's also about viewing figures. However, there needs to be a re-jigging of the prize money to negate someone getting more money through TV appearances. I don't think it's correct Spurs finishing 2nd yet getting less money than Liverpool and City.

It is factually correct though, Liverpool were the best team out of the top 6 when limited to just the games amongst the top 6.No Fixed Abode wrote:IFVictor Meldrew wrote:Bearing in mind Liverpool's dire record at home to the lesser sides it was far from being a definite-if they had won all of those "definites" they would have been champions rather than just the best when playing the best.No Fixed Abode wrote:But given a home win for Liverpool was a definite.......if it hadn't been a slightly higher calibre of team Liverpool were playing on the last day I would say fair enough.

"Rather than just best when playing best" - well that's bias - but we know you're a LIverpool fan
