And Reading U 21’s still appear to be playing away at Blackburn the following day- so advantage Hungerford !!!

We probably need the U18 to be in Middlesboro and the u16 to be in Sunderland for it to make much difference.
I’m looking forward to Charlie Austin beasting a 15 year old centre back though…

Thanks for the updates R and R, much appreciated

Hadn't checked until now but the Academy was posting updates on Twitter -

Shame to exit the competition, especially after leading, but it was an inexperienced side

Hopefully we fare better tomorrow

Yes F-T 4-3 defeat - very disappointing defensive display.
Hungerford will meet Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday 14th April in the final at Slough Town Ko 7.45pm - Wycombe won 3-1 on Pens against Slough after it was 1-1 at FT.
Attendance at Slough 892

Hungerford’s goalscorers were Tom Conteh (on loan from FGR) and Jordan Rose who is a centre back, had never scored for us before but managed a hat trick.
We believe we had never beaten Reading before and had never beaten a league side in a competitive game.
I suspect making the final means a lot more to us than it would have done to Reading.
Thanks to the Reading fans who came along, crowd of 296 was spot on the upper end of my expectation.

Thought it was an entertaining game despite the awful conditions (rain and gusts over 40mph at times). Yensu's penalty save was impressive; Omoregie was rapid; Barough won the ball back well for two goals.

Though it was a good set up at Hungerford, although I'll have to make another visit in less 'problematic' conditions.

Just going through our side and the minutes played by age group this season, not counting the previous round (1st team + U21s + U18s):
  1. Yensu (1) - aged <18 - 0 + 0 + 180
  2. Bowdery (3) - aged 19 - 0 + 734 + 0 (also had loan at Hungerford)
  3. Irish (4) - aged <18 - 0 + 180 + 1,849
  4. Neptune (5) - aged 18 - 0 + 0 + 252
  5. Okine-Peters (6) - aged 21 - 325 + 1,221 + 0
  6. Williams (7) - aged 19 - 0 + 293 + 0 (also had loan at Dorchester)
  7. Lonmeni (8) - aged 18 - 0 + 3 + 1,549 (including minutes for Liverpool's U18s)
  8. Omoregie (9) - aged <18 - 0 + 0 + 994
  9. Barough (10) - aged 19 - 55 + 385 + 0 (also had loan at Basingstoke)
  10. Cliff (11) - aged 18 - 0 + 195 + 1,303 (including minutes for Fulham's U18s)
  11. R Beacroft (14) - aged <18 - 0 + 0 + 1,252
Used subs:
  1. Dove (14?) - aged 17 - 0 + 0 + 1,758
  2. Agyekum (15?) - aged <18 - 0 + 0 + 392
  3. Obodo (16?) - aged 19 - 0 + 171 + 0 (also had loan at Chichester)
Unused subs:
  1. Pullinger - aged <18 - 0 + 0 + 180 (also had loan at Thatcham)
  2. Zie - aged <18 - 0 + 11 + 1,688
Very much a hybrid squad (as is typical for us in this competition). Mix of players who've played regularly at at least U18 level this season; some who are on the fringes of the U21s; some who are on the fringes of the U18s.

Only Okine-Peters is older than nineteen and I was very surprised to see him in the team. I think he was the only one who featured against Maidenhead in the last round.

The hybrid nature does explain the fairly disjointed nature of our performance at times, but a very good opportunity for these players to learn from.

Wycombe 1 Hungerford 0 33 mins
2-0 39 mins
H-T 2-0
2-1 89 mins
2-2 90+ 8
F-T 2-2 PENS it is !
Attendance 452
Wycombe win 4-1 on pens
Game worthy of a final. Wycombe bossed. the 1st half and Hungerford gave it a right go in the 2nd. Wycombe keeper couple of decent saves in the shoot-out.
